Moved into a home with hard water in our toilet bowls. Installed in November, after 5 months all stains are gone. Use in conjunction with upkeep of clean toilet bowls and using pumice to wear the hard water stains down. This has helped so much in softening the water to get rid of the stains all together. They do work slowly. But they do work!

19th February 2013 2 weeks in and our toilet remains the same lime encrusted container that it did when we installed these blocks BUT neither magnaloo has a crystal stuck on them so far, so I intend to write regular updates on our progress. Personally I dont think they will work but comparing them to a water softener, I felt that at the price they were worth a try. Some reviewers appear to have achieved startling results and I hope that we might too, but so far, it looks like I will be emptying the cisterns again in the not too distant future and using a combination of mechanical debridement to chip away the scale from the levers and vessels and a touch of viakal before filling up for another few months. Let's see how we get on as I would love to say that this item actually works. Y 26th February 2013 My wife says that I am the eternal cynic and perhaps she is right. I have just checked our toilet cistern in the bathroom and surprise, surprise the limescale encrusted elements appear to have lost some of the crust! Proof of that is the covering of creamy sludge on the base of the cistern and a fine covering of the same over the two 'floats'. I remain very pessimistic about these items still, but a doubt has crossed my mind that they do possibly work. Certainly having undertaken some research, most of the evidence based research available indicates it is unlikely but not impossible in theory that they will work, however, there is definitely evidence in the bottom of the cistern in our bathroom! I have decided to leave one in and remove the other to our en-suite bathroom with a view to seeing how well they do on their own. I feel a Victor moment coming on, "I dont believe it". I suppose that it will take twice as long with one magnet, we shall see. 7th March 2013 I really don't believe it now. All of the evidence says these don't work, but the second toilet cistern was examined today and yes it was clear and the original cistern is also clear, just one magnet on this occasion and quite heavy deposits had gone, that is those below the water line: those above remain. I cannot explain why these magnets have worked for me, as obviously they have not worked for others who have reviewed them. Perhaps it is the type of limescale? Certainly in Basingstoke where I work, kettles fill with lime which is more like sludge than stone and can be removed with a brush, whereas in Dorset where I live it is extremely hard. One thing is for sure, whatever the reason, the mechanical elements of our two upstairs toilets are free of limescale below the waterline. The second cistern became clear much faster than the first, which I assume is due to the first one being in the family bathroom, which despite having two magnets at first took much longer. I would assume that it had heavier deposits than the second attempt due to it being used less. So why only 4 stars? I am going to purchase another two today to install in our downstairs toilet. This time I intend to use my phone to film a before and after to seek how exactly we get on and if successful I will post the review on here. I can only reiterate that there is no evidence based research to prove that these items work: in fact the evidence is leaning towards the opposite, but for me they are and very quickly too. A further review awaits when I have got the magnets for the next toilet! 14th March 2013 The new magnets have arrived. Opened up the cloakroom toilet desperate to see it lime encrusted in order that I might film a "before and after"! I now feel that after raising expectation that these items might actually work, I feel somewhat of a let down as a reviewer: no lime. The working parts are mainly clear of any sediment or hardened limescale deposits and therefore I can't do a before and after; why didn't I do it on one of the other two cisterns? I suppose I should have checked it beforehand as it appears that the situation is nowhere near as bad on this toilet as on the first toilet cistern I examined, again probably due to the fact that this toilet is not used as much as that in the family bathroom. Sadly it looks like I wasted a little of my money too, but I have inserted the magnets anyway. I intend to see how these items progress, there is still small deposits on the first toilet, but perhaps more intriguing are that there are some ferrous metal parts in the construction and to my amazement, these have lost the rust encrusted on them. I know, hard to believe, but for me they have worked and I can see that they have removed the limescale and also the rust on some metal parts.. I intend to leave my next update for a month to see if the three toilets all end up without any limescale at all and if they do, irrespective of evidence to back it up, I shall upgrade this review to 5 stars. 2nd May 2013 Well not a lot more to say. No limescale in any of the toilets now and I suppose that what I should do to demonstrate that these items do work is to remove them from the cisterns for say three months and gauge how much of the sediment crystalises onto the mechanism. Sadly I think that this review has run its course as they do work for me, but if I get a few minutes, I will give it a try. 7th December 2013 Still scale free. 13th March 2014 No scale. Remarkable, google these items or similar and the experts say they don't work and I admit they shouldn't, but they have for me. 7th august 2014 Still no lime scale and three toilets lime scale free. I am thinking to taking them out of one toilet to see if the lime scale returns, but perhaps enough is enough on this review. They work, simple yet they shouldn't
