Received the set and have read through the well written and nicely printed instructional materials which are very helpful since I've never used such a machine.One thing surprised me was nowhere I could find the ubiquitous "Made in China" -- not on the packaging, on the hand piece, or in the printed materials. So, I called the 800 number to ask. A live staff picked my call right away and confirmed: Yes, it's made by our company here in the States. She took my suggestion that they put something like "Proudly made in USA" on the package.With 2 AA rechargeable batteries installed and the smallest white emery bit inserted, the machine weighs only 118g (approx. 4.2 oz). Thanks to the light weight and cordlessness, it's very easy to handle. Using fully charged rechargeable batteries, speed is pretty good considering it's a drill running on two AA's.It might not be powerful enough if one wants to reduce thick toenails once a month and need to get it done quickly. But for bi-weekly trimming, it seems just good enough, at least for me.The trade-off is power/speed vs safety. To me as an aging boomer using a drill the first time in life, I prefer this not-too-powerful drill so that I will less likely hurt myself, particularly when climbing the learning curve.I wish the design offers a switch to reverse rotating direction. I wonder if anyone has tried to insert the batteries in the opposite + and - position and successfully made the motor to rotate in the opposite direction without damaging the motor.I will report the drill's durability if it stops working within 12 months or so.P.S. The Amazon description states "Shipping Weight: 3.2 ounces". However, on an LB-501 digital scale the whole manufacturer's package (which has no battery) weighs 6.2 oz.

I needed a nail kit to take care of my Mother's nails. She is aging and is becoming unable to take care of her own nails. I don't trust myself to use nippers and such on another person. After looking at a number of nail kits, I chose this one based on price, tools included, size and portablility (I liked that it was battery and I could use it anywhere.) I am very pleased with my purchase. It arrived quickly and does exactly what I needed it to do. It has plenty of power and we did her nails in no time and they looked really good. It's not a sexy little nail spa, but it is a perfect little nail kit. Now I'm going to get one for myself.2-21-13 UpdateI am still using this original unit for my Mother's nail care and the second one that I bought for myself. I read some of the reviews about the power and I would say that the unit is designed to stop if you press too hard against the nail. It may take a little longer, but if you let the tool do the work it will limit the risk of burning yourself or someone else. I appreciate this feature, because I use it on another person. I follow the 3 second rule on my Mother and keep the tool moving, so I don't burn her. Also, it will slow down or stop more easily when the batteries need changing. With regular use of this kit we have returned her nails to healthy. I have used this kit once a month since my original review in 2008. It still works well and the tools have not worn down. When something does happen to this little kit, if it's still available I will buy another one.

I glanced at the information. When using the small metal attachment for sanding down the cuticles, I found it was loose in the holder (out of fairness, I haven't let the company know yet). I found it made grooves in in my nails that are growing out. In the instructions it warns about this. The large metal attachment works great on sanding dry spots on the feet. In fact my feet have remained smooth! It's all easy to use.
