Very handy and effective sharpener. A few strokes on the pocket knife and I could literally shave with the thing.

I'm no expert on knives or sharpening, let's start saying by saying that. Maybe that makes the review better or worse, not sure. Here's what I know about this sharpener.It's small. Smaller than the similar looking gerber sharpener. It's lightweight, it's made in China. It has an American looking red,white and blue star graphic on the front, (possibly deceiving you into believing it's not made in China), but Made in China is listed plainly on the back of the package.Having said all that, I tried it out on a pair of dull scissors. I didn't want to start with a knife I really liked In case it didn't work or worse, damaged my knife. It did make an edge on the scissors, I could see where it was working. I could tell a slight difference, so I feel ok saying I think if you are looking for a pocket sharpener, for an emergency, this may work. I can't give a glowing endorsement, as it just didn't seem to work all that well?It's not designed to be the only sharpener you ever use. I don't think it would put a super sharp edge on a knife, but I think, in an emergency, it might be a good item to have in your day pack or BOB. This is a must have for anyone that has pocket knives they find dull at the wrong times.Small and handy, easy to keep on key ring or attach to camping gear.It does a good job on small pocket knives or hand size blade.Small but mighty.
