One Powerfully Good Edition for Life Sustenance!
Mysterious and wonderful are the words that come to mind when finishing this read. It’s more than just a book, much more. Like any weight loss program, some rules and systems must be followed. This one is a combination of logical eating with the exotic foods and beliefs of the ancient Indian peoples. What I learned was that Ayurveda is an alternative medicine system, lifestyle, regimen, practice, well, it’s all of the above and still more. When used alongside Yoga, wonderful things will happen. It seems that Ayurveda has its historical roots in the country of India and has swept the west by storm. I like what the book had to say about this practice and I would compare it to a few other exercise routines, belief systems, and ideologies, all of which serve to build strength and growth in the human body. The way I see it, you can’t go wrong with this plan because it has all the components of a healthy lifestyle such as workouts, nutrition, and then how to be at peace with yourself and the world around you.Food is medicine as is the belief in Ayurveda and actually, whether we think about it that way or not, this has always been true. The old adage, “You are what you eat,” is true. For me, weight loss and mindfulness were the most interesting and valid features put forth in this book and I already focus on both of those things so this was a really good read for me.The book puts forth a program that sets the “Six Tastes,” being sweet, sour, pungent, bitter, and astringent as all we need and I agree with that. This list creates a system in its own way for us to follow and to stay in good shape. It uses a few different types of diets being the Vata Diet, Pitta Diet, Kapha Diet, which are selected after one realizes something called their Dosha. There is a learning curve to taking up this diet but that’s to be expected and our bodies are well worth a little more forethought when it comes to what we put in it. On that note, the last segment of the book contains some of the most wonderful recipes I have ever found. I tried a few of them right away and my mouth, brain, and tummy thanked me for many hours after the meal. This is a happy book with extremely valid lifestyle and nutritional information. If you get this book you will love the results.

Healthy, delicious, and easy to follow cookbook
Lakshmi Vemuri is a native of India, the place where Ayurveda came to fruition. The word literally means science of life in Hindi, and Vemuri breaks down the science of nutritious foods and how to incorporate them into one’s lifestyle, in order to combat every day ailments. such as insomnia, stress, inflammation and diabetes. There are three doshas, which are specific energies carried within the human body; they are vata, pitta and kapha. A person may carry one of these energies dominantly, but it is possible to carry two or three dominantly. Vemuri explains how each of these doshas goes in accordance with certain foods and how these foods come into balance with our body types and certain ailments we may combat. Vemuri also mentions how six tastes (sweet, sour, salt, pungent, bitter and astringent) must be maintained in a healthy balance according to the doshas. All the recipes provided are excellent, but I would like to focus in particular on certain ones for the pitta dosha, which is the one that is dominant for me. The milk and rice kheer was appealing to me because it is nourishing and has a touch of sweetness, with its combination of rice, milk, raisins and rose water. The almond dates shake appealed to me for the same reason, due to its mixture of dates, milk, cinnamon and ginger. These recipes not only satisfy hunger, but help to clear our respiratory tract and calm inflammation. And of course, they are rich in antioxidants. In conclusion, I would like to say that if you are looking to improve your health and lifestyle, then regardless of who you are or whatever dilemmas you may have, then this is the book for you.

An ok book
This book was not quite as good as expected. I expected more recipes. It has some interesting and useful information but not as much depth as I had hoped for.

I love it!!
This book is really awesome!! It was very interesting to me and I was so excited because, I just did a report in my health, safety, and nutrition class about India. Not to get off topic but this went right along with what I was researching and we were talking about the meals preparation and the type of different dishes and things that they use in the Indian culture in their country. With me having health issues as well this is some very helpful information. I'm definitely going to try some of the recipes and add them to my list of healthy meals. I will also be sharing with with others such as my family, friends, co workers, church members, and my children. The only other suggestion that I would have is for to maybe do more pictures with your recipes, like each individual recipe. I myself am a very auditory and visual person so I like to see pictures with the text. Great job though on explaining everything in such detail. I have family members that also have health issues and there are a lot of us that are battling with obesity, pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and just overall eating healthy. I will definitely be keeping this cookbook, to help me with my weight loss journey. This will be perfect for some of the meals that I would have to use after my bariatric surgery. Keep up the great work and continue to share your cultures experiences with others. Thanks again take care.

Healthy recipes to help diabetes, weightloss, hormonal imbalances and more
I like the explanation of the Ayurvedic diet and how the recipes are laid out. However, I might need to open up my palate more before I am able to eat half of the recipes in this book.
