Joymusic 23" Concert Mahogany Ukulele Kit,Natural,Matt (UK-23S)

Let me preface this by saying,this is an entry level Ukelele. This is for a beginner. My friend always wanted to learn Ukelele. So I bought this inexpensive kit and some books. I was happily surprised to find this is a really nice instrument Sounds good. He loves it. A really good buy.

It's great quality sounds great. The real deal

In March of 2025, I paid just over $35USD for this uke. Everything was clean and intact when it arrived. I bought it to have something cheap that I could bring when we visit our grandchildren in case one of them loves it a bit too much. This is a very basic ukulele. The box included the instrument in a bare bones case, along with two picks. It’s very attractive. The ends of the frets are rough, maybe I would say that they’re sharp, so I smoothed mine down with a piece of fine sandpaper. (I’ve encountered the same issue with another inexpensive instrument I’d bought, so I was prepared for this. This would be the biggest thing to be aware of if you are buying this for a starter instrument.) It will take you some time to get the instrument tuned up to the right pitches, and any set of nylon strings will take time to settle in. Plan on retuning it a lot in the first few days. Be patient with this process. One reviewer commented on the action being too high on their instrument. I did not experience this problem with mine. However, I’m a 62-year-old man who has been playing since I was a teenager, so my hands may have toughened up somewhat. I also rarely play past the 5th fret on a ukulele, so I don’t worry about how it sounds higher up on the fingerboard. I got a little buzzing from one of the strings, but that could be the instrument settling in. Overall, for 35 bucks this is a good deal. That way, if my grandchildren destroy it, I have no worries. If you’re looking for something as your primary instrument, you might want to spend a bit more, but this one suits my purpose just fine.

This is junk. The action is so high that when you fret above the the first few frets the notes are a semi-tone too high, which makes it unplayable. If you have a chord spanning more than four frets the notes will all be out of tune relative to each other. The tuning machine sleeves do not fit properly and are so loose they fall out, or when strung, creep up out of the headstock while playing. I just bought the Donner tenor uke, and what a difference a few extra dollars make - excellent build quality, sound and action. I expected the Joy to be a bit rough but thought it might make a fun project to mod and upgrade, but no, this thing is irredeemable and so it's back to the warehouse - or landfill - with you!

Quality reasonably priced

Product is worthy awesome! Best product. Must buy. Everything is perfect . Worthy product. Sound quality is good. Packaging is good. For beginners recommended. The best for beginners. Light in hands. The sound is quite awesome. Tip: Just buy a strap along with this uke. With strap, you can get better placement on the fretboard and not worry about drop the uke. Best at this price / Great choice for beginners!

because no one reads them. But, here goes... I bought this to consider for adoption by an absolute beginner course for seniors. One concern about inexpensive instruments is the quality of the quality control. The fretwork on the instrument I received was unacceptable. (See photo.) Other reviews found everything okay, so I chalk this up to quality control. If I wanted only one instrument, I might try again, but I'm looking for a half dozen or more, so back it goes and my search continues.

The item was received with mould on it. Immediately returned. Don’t want that in my home
