Looks good—requires itty bitty trim to fit right
Anyone who owns an estwing hatchet should have no problem using a sharp razor to trim a 1/16th of an inch from the edge of one of the flaps to let the snap connections reach one another.Much easier to get the hatchet in and out of than the factory nylon fabric belt holder/sheath. Both are oriented to face forward if worn on one’s left hip or blade backward if worn on one’s right hip just FYI.I like the orientation but note that on one’s right hip the hatchet blade faces backwards and on the left hip the blade faces forwards, if it matters to you.I use one of those hammer holder on my belt—the ones with a sort of oval metal loop to carry the hatchet and then I can orient the hatchet any way I want and I use that more than 90% of the time when I’m out working on trees or chopping wood or the like.Another company makes a very nice leather sheath for the estwing hatchet but unlike this one it doesn’t connect to the belt and I use that one when the hatchet is in “storage” because once that sheath is off the hatchet it has to go *somewhere* so I just leave it in the tool bag when I go to work. But I’ve noticed that the sheath being reviewed limits the amount of belt space and if I wear it on my right hip it gets in the way of the hatchet hanging on the hammer loop.So I would only buy this product again if I was maybe an avid hiker or mountaineer who needed to walk around a lot with ready *access* to the hatchet but in circumstances where I didn’t expect to have to actually *use* the hatchet very often.Because taking the hatchet in and out of this sheath isn’t a smooth one handed effortless operation. But it is a very safe very solid piece of kit.Like I said… I basically never use it anymore. It’s either hanging on my belt loop or it’s in a tool bag or toolbox drawer with a little blade-only leather sheath someone else makes that’s very nice and only has one snap fastener (not two like this one). That said this one being reviewed is a vast improvement over the fabric sheath that comes with the estwing hatchet.

Good fit for a Fiskars hatchet
I have a Fiskars X7 hatchet in my camping gear but really wasn't happy with the plastic "combo sheath plus display stand hanger" thing it came with. The dimensions and design of the Camillus sheath looked like they'd match well with the Fiskars hatchet so I decided to give it a try, and it was indeed a good fit, smooth to take off and put on. Leather feels nice, and construction feels sturdy. Quite pleased with the Camillus.

what's a camillus
not sure what a camillus is but they should really be named Beefy Cow. This thing is so beefy and well made I'm almost embarrassed to have bought this sheath at such a low price point. American made top tier stuff.Best of luck, Beefy Cow

Made in USA
This is a well made leather hatchet cover made for hatchet blade lengths of 4" or less. The quality and materials are excellent and it was made right here in the US

Exactly what we needed.
We bought this as a Christmas gift. My husband had a hatchet from his boy scout days and wanted to pass it down to our grand son in law. However we needed a sheath for it and this was just perfect.

Tight fit, works, could be better
This is not bad for what it is made for but could be sized better. The rear snap is difficult to snap together. I used some leather treatment to try and make it less stiff. It will do for now but I think there are probably some better options
