Very Good Blank DVD's
I bought these to replace some DVD's I bought from Staples that were junk and would not burn correctly. These Verbatim DVD+R Blank Discs work great at 16x, as advertised. I digitize music from vinyl records and use these to archive the resulting digitized files. I cannot attest to the longevity at this time, since I have been using them for only three months. However, I used Verbatim DVD's in the past with excellent results.Highly recommended.

Best quality DVDs for the price.
I have ordered the 50 and 100 pack of Verbatim at least 7 times in the past and the disc failure rate I would estimate would be 1-2%. I use these in almost all cases to record off a video recorder. I have some discs over 10 years old without any loss in picture of sound. I had to replace this order as this one came damaged in shipping. Request item to be shipped in a box. This review was for the 50 pack.

Best outside of Taiyo Yuden
EDIT: This review applies to Verbatim 95098 & 97459 (Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging of 95098) specifically!EDIT 2-16-2013: I absolutely love Amazon & Verbatim's Frustration-Free Packaging! It keeps your DVDs safe and sound much like NewEgg's packaging, but without all those pesky packing peanuts! And, for what it is worth, the batch I received recently was manufactured in Taiwan. In fact, I believe all the spindles with the Frustration-Free Packaging are manufactured and packaged in Taiwan....Original Review:Bearing in mind that some media and some optical drives just do not get along, I would say that these discs (manufactured by Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.) are the closest in quality to the cream of the crop (Taiyo Yuden) that I have come across. The "media ID code" that you should look for in this case is MCC 004.The thing to remember when buying blank DVD media is that brand name means little: you want a good manufacturer. For instance, I have burned some TDK media for a friend and noticed that one batch was manufactured by Ritek and another by CMC Magnetics.I strongly suggest visiting digitalfaq dot com and check out -->/reviews/dvd-media before you buy! Also, check out the freeware tool DVD Identifier, as well, so you know who is manufacturing your media. This will provide easy access to your disc's media ID.Hope this helps to cut back on "coasters!"EDIT December 21,2012 in reply to Anonymous comment below:There are lots of good references on the web such as videohelp dot com and MyCE dot com, among others.I used to like DVD Identifier (and still do), but it's database has not been updated for a couple years. But that doesn't bother me since all I burn are MCC 004s and it identifies those just fine. -- I recommend using ImgBurn to write the discs and it will show you the manufacturer of your blank disc. A quick Googling of ImgBurn will get you to their site - Amazon keeps killing my links to ImgBurn dot com and other resources.Verbatim branded MCC004s are manufactured in a few different countries and I have found subtle differences between those made in Taiwan and those in India. These are mostly cosmetic and the performance is not impacted - at least not in my experience and I've burned well over 1000 of these from both Taiwan and India and can count the coasters on one hand. -- Bear in mind that I am talking about the Verbatim 95098 line specifically. There are others that you should avoid. For instance, the "Life Series" is NOT manufactured to MCC standards using their proprietary AZO dye - rather, those are Moser Baer blanks that are branded Verbatim. This is where some of the confusion comes in because Moser Baer (India) does manufacture some 95098s and others for MCC and those are OK because they are made to MCC specifications.Bottom line: If you want a good blank disc, buy the Verbatim 95098 and make sure ImgBurn shows the the media code to be MCC 004 and you should be fine.

Nothing wrong with India made Verbatims! It's a myth!
All these reviewers whining about MADE IN INDIA have no idea what they're talking about. They record and scan just as good as Singapore, UAE and Taiwan discs!Just received my 100-pack cake box and they are indeed MCC 004 (the best dye available for longevity, performance and consistency) Tiyo Yuden discs are just as good, but more expensive. Anyway, always purchase the Verbatim with AZO, NOT the life or value series with inferior CMC dye. These MADE IN INDIA Verbatims always scan out in Nero Cd Speed at 95% or higher! Super low PI errors and NO COASTERS! But I am using a good DVD Burner, the Benq 1650 with BCIC firmware. Make sure you burn at 8x for best results, not 16 or higher!Anyone that is still on the fence about ordering these just because they are "MADE IN INDIA" needs to read this:Mitsubishi (or rather Verbatim) has stated and re-stated several times that all MCC and MKM media is created with Mitsubishi equipment and materials, and Mitsubishi staff on-site to oversee production. While MCC has rented or otherwise made financial arrangements to use space (and likely personnel and non-essential equipment) in the facility of another manufacturer -- be it Moser Baer (MBI), Prodisc, CMC Magnetic (CMC) or Falcon Technologies (FTI -- the MCC media is still an MCC owned, created and controlled product. MCC is the manufacturer.Verbatim (an extension of Mitsubishi) is a very large worldwide brand, and they need a LOT of media for their worldwide markets. As such, one puny plant will simply not suffice. Therefore they have forged relationships with other companies. It was well-known back around 2004-2005 that MCC was taking companies like Prodisc, MBI and CMC "under their wing" to get them "up to speed" on how to function as a quality facility that meets the expectations of Mitsubishi (and their worldwide customers, of course). For a while there, we actually saw MBI and Prodisc media that was every bit as good as MCC discs! CMC was better, too, although still not up to MCC quality. Those were the 4x days of DVD-R.Based on the amount of care, time and financial effort that MCC put into those secondary non-MCC-owned locations, it would be silly for one facility to simply be allowed to create crap. Verbatim has a reputation that it very much wants (or at least wanted pre-2010*) to protect. The materials, processes and oversight used in India is not any different from what goes on at the locations in Taiwan. This has been not only implied by MKM and Verbatim USA, but explicitly stated by Verbatim Europe. Based on my observations in the past 5 or so years, the anti-India ramblings you find in user forums are due to secondary factors, be it drive-related or simply psychological. There's this idea that India is inferior to American goods -- or goods from countries accepted by Americans, such as Taiwan -- when it's not at all true. India has its issues, yes, just like anywhere else. But it also has a thriving technology (IT), medical and customer service market. There's nothing innately inferior about Indian products. And then most Indian media was first seen with the arrival of 16x DVD-R in the USA and Canada, and many of the subpar drives out there at the time (LG, especially!) worked poorly with MCC 16x media. Heck, those drives worked poorly with most media! Swapping to Taiwan discs made no difference. The few pieces of "proof" you find out there, on this topic of Taiwan being better than India, use PIF/PIE scanning methods that are simply too unreliable for this type of comparison. It's scientificesque methodology being implored by those individuals -- meaning that it resembles science, but it's not science. More often, you get an incomplete and biased snapshot of what truly went on, with details such as drive changing, burn speed or other environmental factors being omitted. It discredits and debunks that myth.Happy burning!

Perfect! Genuine Verbatim (MCC) product.
Generally, genuine Verbatim disks are priced out of reach nowadays - I refuse to let large companies like Verbatim or Amazon to rape my wallet. However, I bought a couple of spools of these on sale for half price. Excellent, top tier quality. Your burns are reliable, and will last for decades with proper storage and care. I refuse to pay $65 for a spool of disks, but for half that price, they are totally worth it.
