Great value
I installed this product on my 2016 scion FR-S. I throughly enjoyed working with this product, I have an aftermarket exhaust and a subwoofer installed on my car and the smart mat worked perfectly for what I was looking for. I was looking into more expensive automotive sound deadening but after installing this product I do not recommend using the more expensive products. The installation was a breeze, the adhesive is sticky but forgiving to get the best placement possible. The noise reduction is great for the price point but is not as good as more expensive sound deadening. However, for the price you could buy 3x as much and layer it to the same noise reduction. And I know it’s not a reason to pick one or the other I appreciate the black finish as it matches my black interior even though it it covered. Overall a good product at a great price point I would recommend anyone looking into sound deadening to get this product

It is sticky!
I used this to replace the missing insulation between my truck’s interior door panel and the door. Like the manufacturer and many previous reviewers have said, this stuff is VERY STICKY. Having read the reviews, I had a few ideas about how to work with it. Here’s what I found to be most helpful:1. Pre-cut your material, so you’re not working with the excess.2. Once you have the material cut and positioned where you want to use it, pick a corner and peel back just enough the backing to stick the corner or edge to your surface.3. Applying pressure as you go, peel and secure in small sections. This produced excellence results for me. I was able to apply almost a complete sheet of insulation without getting it all over my hands or having it adhere to places where I didn’t want it. I hope these tips help! The road noise dampening is really good. I’m sure the material will become fragile and more susceptible to rips or tears when it ages, but I’m not planning on pulling my door panels a lot. If you’re careful in your planning, you can even separate the backing you want to retain (like covering the open spaces in a door) from the backing you want to remove so when you pull the backing sheet, it will leave the backing that you want to keep, so you don’t have interior components (like power window cables) sticking to the insulation adhesive, which is VERY STICKY (repetition for emphasis. No joke. It’s super sticky!)

Sticks great!
This product is great for the price. It’s very sticky compared to other brands, it will even stick to surfaces that you can’t get really clean, like the inside of car doors. The Amazon Basics brand will only stick to flat surfaces.Smartmat sticks to everything, literally! The adhesive backing is very easy to peel off, and the mat can be cut with a basic pair of scissors. It also molds very well to curves and folds. The noise cancellation is on par with others, so average to good in this area. But, it’s by far the easiest to install of all the sound deadening material that I’ve used due to how well it sticks.

I used for appliances.
My washer and drier are in a utility room. If the door is open, they can be heard. I pulled the covers off the front of both and put a strip up the middle of each panel. I’m guessing a 10”x20”.I am very happy with the results, no the combo isn’t silent, but I measured roughly 2db quieter and a lower tone. That to me is tolerable.I also lined the top of my heat pump water heater cover. It’s a Rheem gen 5 and the compressor can be heard. I put a 10”ish strip around it except where the fan was, and a 6x10” on top. It again is more tolerable.Don’t believe this will make anything silent, but it will dampen it some and make it lower tone. The product itself is fine. Plenty sticky. Feels thick and heavy.

Solid bang for the buck product
Previous to this, I've used Resonix, Dynamat Extreme, SDS tiles, Second Skin Damplifier Pro, Stinger Roadkill, Noico and Killmat with my preference in about that order. In my experience, all of them will get the job done for the most part. The Resonix and Dynamat cost a bit more but are effective with less mass (ie less product) which is nice if you are doing something that benefits from light weight. That being said, I would day this sits solidly in-between the Damplifier and Roadkill. It's heavy and easy to mold. It's sticky but not impossible to reposition as you apply it. The textured finish is good for knowing where you need to apply more pressure. It's thicker than the Noico and Killmat and you get more material for the money. It's about on par with the Roadkill as far as effectiveness IMO. I applied this to a 1989 C1500 and it made a noticeable difference. There is a slight smell to it that makes me think it is an asphalt/butyl hybrid but even with a heat gun on it, it didn't get gooey like the roof repair stuff people talk about using. Overnight the smell went away, but I would suggest giving it a day to dissipate if you can spare the time.Dollar for dollar I think this is one of the best bang for the buck products out there at it's current price point. You can't go wrong with this stuff.

Very Unforgiving
It is not as thick as the 150 mil would have you believe. Which is supposed to be almost 4MM. Its more like 2MM. The Foam itself is great, but the adhesive is extremely unforgiving. It is strong enough that if you mange to save about 80% of it, it will still stick. But it is very hard to work with. What makes it harder id the Plastic backing. It also sticks to everything via Static Cling which makes an already difficult product that much more difficult to use. If you look at my pictures, I applied this to the inside of my doors on top of the Amazon basics Sound deadener. This took a lot of patience and you can see in the pics were the material made contact on the outside of the door and peeled a little bit. If you are patient and careful use it. If not, stay away. It will piss you off.
