Excellent design, great execution
I own two sets of these knives. I've used these on some larger animals - elk and oryx - as well as smaller ones. I use the CK301 Skinner - 6.6 inch to get cuts started and finer skinning. The CK300 Cleaver - 10.7 inch is the best skinning knife I've ever used. It helps a lot that it's heavy and the large rounded end keeps on skinning as you get to the end of the pass. It's more efficient than a pointed end for skinning. I use the CK200 Guthook - 9.5 inch the least but it's handy to have an extra blade on hand as one of the other edges gets dull. I don't use the guthook. For that work I use an Outdoor Edge Flip-n-Zip. The knives are made in China and Chinese 3Cr13 steel is used. 3Cr13 steel is okay - easy to sharpen but doesn't hold an edge as long as I need. I usually have to sharpen the edges twice to get through an elk and at least 3 times to get through an oryx. Having rubberized handles are absolutely great. Much less chance for hand slippage when things get greasy and slippery. Overall, highly recommended.

Perfect Product
This is the second time I have purchased this set. The first time was about 1998 and the largest of the knives is what I use to chop raw chicken and meat for my Mastiffs. The rubber around the blade handle began to crack so I didn't want it flying off in my face when I hacked through a chicken leg or thigh. It was time for a new set and I went back for the same product. It is well made and does the job.

It's better if you sharpen and polish before using.
So right out of your box they are "sharp" but only by the mechanical sanding process. will they work out of the box, yes but they won't hold the edge for long. Also the smallest knife was NOT in the sheath upon opening, SO OPEN CAREFULLY! The sheath is not field ready because the belt loop is flimsy and won't last long with daily use. The finish on the blades doesn't seem like it's going to hold up long either. So 4 stars for that. That being said, they are well made, better than I was expecting, good weight to the cleaver and I expect them to last for a while. Overall i say worth what I paid for and I will be recommending to others.

Good for the price.
Cleaver was sharp and heavy, just what I was looking for for skinning. Caping knife needed a run across a sharpening steel but not bad. The gut hook dressing knife was a little thick and heavy for my taste.

Everything you need for field dressing deer
This set of knives arrived razor sharp and ready to go. Used them to field dress a doe and 11 point buck this weekend (my first two deer. Nice, huh?). This set of knives made easy work of the job. The cleaver was invaluable for splitting the breast bone and separating the pelvis. Really glad I bought this set and am confident it will work well for many seasons to come. If you're looking for a set of knives for dressing big game, these will definitely get the job done. Get this set and you'll have everything you need. Couldn't be happier!

My husband was so impressed when he received this, he ordered another set as a gift for another hunter friend of his. Highly recommend!

Great Game cleaning Set!
Perfect set for cleaning deer, or whatever you choose to throw at it. That cleaver is a life saver for the pelvic bone. Tough knives, hold an edge pretty well, I regularly sharpen mine either way. Great little case to hold them all too. Grab these and your flashlight throw in the pack and off you go. Highly recommend

I have not used this yet on game. It was a gift, and I think it's a great set. The case is it's big flaw though. The blades are not fastened in well at all, and I would never strap it to a belt and expect to keep all of the blades. This is the kind of thing that goes into a pack. Other than that, it is quite a good value. The cleaver has some good weight to it for it's size
