The Illustrated Ramayana: The Timeless Epic of Duty, Love, and Redemption

This beautiful book is a the perfect accompaniment to a standard Ramayana book. DK has faithfully followed the storyline to places, regions and publications using well researched references that point out nuances in the story. I am an avid mythology reader and this book provided more insight, background information on the key characters in the story. The pages are glossy and the pictures are bright and perfect. I got this on a deal and the book is well worth the amount charged! I've been showing it off incessantly to all my Indian friends and everyone has been awed! Well done!!!

I have several coffee table like books by DK. They are all excellent…beautiful illustrations, quality paper and well written, informative text. Very pleased.

Little known topic.

I can’t get enough of this book. It feels like I’m in a museum learning about this incredible Epic.

I always love these books for DK. I own 3. Clear, concise with beautiful pictures. Great for newbies.

I really enjoyed how simply everything was presented.

As with many DK editions, this is a great shortened summary of the Ramayana. All the major characters and story lines are touched. The book is lavishly illustrated with great artwork and many asides that link the story to larger topics on art, religion, culture, history, and the many versions of the story. This edition has a great glossary and index. As a paper book, I would have given it five stars. However, I did buy the digital edition, and as a digital book it fails. There is a disclaimer that some digital features (such as formatting, font selection and sizing) have been disabled to preserve the layout. However, text is not highlightable or selectable. The index does not link to various pages in the book. And items cannot be marked for note taking or other annotations. I hope a future edition can correct these deficiencies or can be addressed in other books. So hence I give 3 stars. Excellent as a paper book. Poor as a digital book.

Very well compiled. Beautiful historic and modern images, pictures and carving information. Insightful brief information on the historical places and people who lived, fought and protect the society and humanity in that era of Ramayan. Also perfect to plan exploration holidays.

A lover of history, was thinking twice when buying the book ,because of the cost, but it was worth every penny Great book that goes into minute detail and the beautifully illustrated pictures are literally a thousand words. Enjoy reading.
