Great Choice
Excellent reception and seems to be very sturdy. The solar panel works well to charge the battery. Tuning is a snap and it’s easy to operate. Two light levels for both the reading light and beacon are nice. The SOS siren is very loud. Overall this is a powerful radio in a small and versatile package. I’m glad I bought this.

Great small size radio
Great little Wx radio for those trying times, hurricanes, floods, or Armageddon - seems to work as advertised and small enough for a Go Bag. Like the options to recharge, but agree the hand crank would be a last resort. Overall believe you will be happy with this little radio.

Perfect Solution
The radio sound clarity is better than expected for a portable radio. The NOAA stations are crystal clear to understand the commentators, no static. The AM/FM stations are clear. With the several power up modes I feel very comfortable with the hurricane season upon us (Florida). Plug-in, rechargeable battery, 3-AAA batteries back-up, plug into car or power pack and also a crank if all else fails. The flashlight and its functions is high enough beam plus it can charge phone etc.

Great purchase!
This thing is awesome! There are six different ways to charge it and you can charge your phone and other devices, it has a reading light and flashlight, radio and other features. The radio comes in loud and clear. This exceeded my expectations.

Full functionality at a very reasonable price.
The McGuiver of multi-purpose radios. Purchased this radio after reading all of the positive reviews. My old Midland emergency radio internal battery would not hold a charge and the antenna was broken so I was looking for a replacement. So far I am very pleased with the quality and usefullness of this digital radio. It has a lot of gadgets but surprise, they actually work. At about 1/3rd the cost of the Midland radio, it was worth the risk for replacing the retired analog Midland radio

The best all-in-1 radio for emergencies. Everything you need to charge, stay safe, and informed.
This is a great compact all-in-one radio purchased as part of my emergency & hiking kit. I bought this specifically for the hand crank feature, NOAA & the built-in 5000 mAh battery power bank to guarantee a working radio/alerts/flashlight when all other charging options are unavailable or have failed. While the digital version was appealing, a LCD display does use power and will eventually fail which kinda’ defeats the purpose. I also wanted something that was lightweight and portable for me to carry vs the old worldstar “portable” unit my boyfriend insists on lugging around. It wasn’t until recently that we got to compare the two units and this had much better radio reception and we could actually pick up more active bands and NOAA weather channels during a ‘real tropical disturbance’ (Debbie) than his portable! It appears this little radio not only picks up weather alerts and SW bands, but it also picks up a wider range of local radio stations not available on our other home units. The sound quality is better than what you’d expect for this size radio. Actually, it’s quite impressive. The audio comes in clear and decent on the internal speaker & on headphones when using the jack (with or without the telescopic antenna extended). I’ve tested pretty much all the functions and have accidentally set off the SOS alarm (it definitely works by the way & so does the red flasher!). Everything works great. Even the flash light & reading lamp puts out good illumination and with the strapped on NSEW compass you might be able to get your bearings. It’s still a hard call of how efficient the unit will be when tested under a live situation, but hopefully it won’t come to that. It charges reasonably quickly for USB and AC, with solar being the more timely followed by hand cranking. With a 5000 mAh battery I should be able to rely on this as a decent backup should my Anker die. Anyway, as the saying goes, ‘it’s better to have and not need, than to need and not have’. I’m happy to ‘have’ the Solar Crank CR1009 as part of my emergency kit to keep me informed during emergencies. It’s takes up little space and weighs under 15 oz, making it extremely portable to carry in your over nighter, sling bag, sport bag, backpack, etc. when hiking, camping, glamping etc. You can also attach or hang it with the carabiner provided. The only feature not included was making it waterproof and that’s easily solved with a ziplock gallon bag.Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for. It’s plain, simple, compact, reliable, well built, and at a good price point. It’s your life line to staying safe and informed during unexpected weather events whether it be blizzard, wildfire, flash floods, earthquake, hurricane, electrical storms, etc. This is totally worth every penny and 5 Stars! Highly recommend.

An absolute necessity for everyone.
This little radio deserves 10 stars! We live in a fire prone area and, after the tragedy in Texas, decided not to rely on our cell phones for emergency announcements. Based upon other reviews we selected this radio. It is truly amazing. Very, very easy to operate, comes with clear and concise instructions, and does everything it is supposed to do. The battery stays charged for about a week but we just leave it plugged in on our kitchen counter so a low battery isn't a concern. When on standby mode a little LED red light blinks on the end of the radio to let you know it is still monitoring. And every Wednesday, in our area, a test is done on the system and our radio automatically comes on. It sounds an alarm that would wake the dead and then we hear the test announcements. Usually a local weather update. I am not trying to market anything here, but had there been one of these in every home, at that poor little girls camp, and everywhere else, many, many lives could have been spared. Get One!
