MAKE YOUR LAPTOP RUN LIKE NEW
A few years ago I bought a nice gaming laptop. For the first time in my life I was turning graphics UP, rather than cranking them all the way down so they would be playable. Over the years, the laptop began slowing down... frame-rate drops at first, and finally games would slow down so much that they were completely unplayable. Since my laptop was getting hotter than the surface of the sun, I suspected heat was to blame. I bought all kinds of products - a lap desk with fans, I made sure the fans were dusted out and working, the works. I downloaded software which would allow me to throttle certain functions of the laptop to reduce heat... but then it was a race between how much the software was throttling my laptop and how much the heat was causing it to throttle itself. There were some games I gave up playing entirely, simply because they played so slow it wasn't worth it. One day, I happened to see the Klim Tempest on Amazon. Very cheap - only $30, and claimed to be universal fit. I figured, what the heck.. let's try it. And now, my laptop runs... almost like new. The Klim Tempest is a miracle device. Rather than lap desks which simply blow little puffs of air at the bottom of your PC, the Klim Tempest attaches to the exhaust ports of your laptop and literally SUCKS the hot air out and shoots it out the back. I have no clue where the less than exemplary reviews I see are getting their experiences - some say the fan isn't very powerful? Maybe you're just installing or using it wrong? When I hook up my Tempest, I can put my hand over the back of it and feel it jetting out hot air. Games that used to heat my PC up to the point that I almost couldn't touch the metal surfaces... now my laptop maintains temperature and performs as it should. No more burning hot laptop.. just high-end performance. I can once again play my favorite games - games that would overheat and slow my laptop to a crawl within minutes. The Klim is quiet and powerful. You can hear it spool up when the laptop is heating up, but trust me, if you're playing games, the sound effects will WELL overpower the sound of the Tempest - you won't hear it. You'll forget it's there. The mounting mechanism is a bit awkward. I have to be honest, I wish there were a better hook-up.. but the designers were trying to make it as universal as possible, and on that front I feel they did a good job. It might take you a few minutes or a few tries to find out what works best for you, but I've found a way of setting it up where it doesn't slip off all the time, so I'm good. Maybe in the future there will be better mounting mechanisms. Four stars out of five for being a good balance between working and usable on all laptops. It functions EXACTLY as it should. You can download software to monitor your laptop's heat level, and download software to run a stress test - give it a try: hook up the Klim Tempest CORRECTLY, (meaning make sure the seal gaskets are closing off that exhaust port and the hot air will be going exclusively into the Tempest), run a stress test to build up heat, and watch the little device work its magic. I could not be more impressed. If you find your laptop getting extremely hot and performance degrading significantly, THIS DEVICE MAY BE THE ANSWER TO ALL YOUR PROBLEMS. I can't guarantee that (you might have other issues) But for $30 how can you go wrong!? I can FINALLY play my games again, so I'm so happy. I sent the designers a kind note to let them know how much I appreciate it. They wrote back thrilled to hear that I was happy, and were even asking what kind of games I play - these are people who are not only developing an amazing product, but care about their customers. 100% satisfied, would have paid twice or three times the price for the difference it has made. Absolutely amazing and so glad I gave it a try.

Keeps Laptop Temp Down
the KLIM Tempest Laptop Cooler helps keep your laptop cool by using a vacuum to pull hot air out of your laptop quickly. I use it in tandem with a fan-powered laptop cooler under my laptop. The KLIM has 13 speeds to control the amount of vacuum pull. Installation is fairly simple, and as long as you are able to get a good seal on the side of your laptop to the KLIM, it should pull hot air out nicely. Even at the most demanding tasks on my GPU, the combo of the cooler fans and KLIM keep my laptop at around 100 degrees F. PROS: Creates a powerful vacuum to pull out hot air; effective at its purpose CONS: Needs a good seal to the laptop to be effective, which may be an issue for some laptop designs Can get a bit noisy at higher settings

Works ok, but installation instructions are terrible
Well, it's finally working... good thing I'm an engineer because the instructions don't make any sense at all and don't tell you the most important part... bottom plate slides in and hooks... It was a PIA to install, but it works great -- went from 120 to 90 degrees... Would I recommend this product -- oh yeah, but with the caveat regarding instructions -- I actually subtracted one star due to instructions (Hey, what is it with all instruction sheets these days look like flies walked across the page after stepping in some ink -- some of us have old eyes and even with a magnifier it was difficult to read)... Good product (so far)...

Looks - odd but works
Do they drop the CPU and GPU temps super cold.. no.. Dell runs too much voltage with a share heat pipe for that to work.. but.... it does take them longer to get to their stable below throttling temps... and - far less heat soak so I can game longer without the creep in temps I saw before. The body of the laptop stays cool now vs. uncomfortably warm. Got two; one for each vent. Connecting them was awkward on a Dell G16 - but i just stuck the suction cups under the back feet and the cooling deck it sits on holds them. So; easy enough solution. They get a bit loud at full speed but - not annoying about it. Feel quality. The comic thing included was a nice touch - as were the stickers.

Good purchase
It has been great so far and very helpful for my computer. The airflow is noticeable and is decreasing CPU temp as intended. The USB port is easy to install, the provided cable was not that long but easy to find cables if you need longer. The noise level does not impact usage including online meetings etc.

Not convenient and doesn’t seal well
I like the idea. I really do. The MSI gaming laptop I have is great but gets hot fast even with a cooling pad. So I hoped this would help. I set it up right away and tested it. Here is my verdict: Pros: -it did seem to cool a bit once I figured out how to put it together Cons: -the instructions aren’t very clear. It’s about a page and no steps really. You kinda have to just figure it out from the photos and description. But after about 10 min it wasn’t hard and I was done. —To get it to work well, it had to be turned up high and it got loud (you can hear it in the video at max speed) -it’s taller than my entire laptop. It’s also just taped on to the laptop bottom on a plastic piece. -Not really their fault but I realized each time I go home from work I need to remove it and put it back on each morning. Kind of a pain. And it’s one more cord. Overall: I returned it. I’d rather purchase an even larger cooling pad than deal with this.

works well..cools laptop down
The cooler works quite well. Set up is fairly easy and instructions are straightforward. The cooler provides a variety of mounting options. However, make sure before you order this product that your laptop fan exhaust is on the side of your laptop. Otherwise this cooler will not mount on your laptop properly. (I ordered 2 of these fans and set up worked great on my Lenovo laptop but did not work with my HP .) I'm going to keep the 2nd fan as an extra because this is a great product. The digital display is quite useful as you can monitor the changes of temperature on your laptop in comparison to the ambient temperature of the room. Definitely would recommend this high quality cooler with vacuum fan.

Cheap. Sound principle. but...
Atrocious instructions. I had to go to YouTube to figure it out. Once "installed", it just flimsily dangles there on the side of the laptop. In other words - not by any stretch of the imagination - is this thing firmly attached. Any wrong movement, even if you look at it funny, and it could fall off. It's not ideal in that sense. Having said this though, it successfully cooled down my very old Dell XPS l702x in less than 90 seconds. So, it functions well and the principle is sound. I would say that it cools much better than a large cooling pad for my particular system. This is because it sucks out the heat in a very targeted manner rather than blowing. I don't understand why laptop makers don't have this sort of thing built in from the get go.
