Amazing piano with great touch and sound
I was looking for a digital piano under $1000 for playing classical music, and the most important factor for me were the key action and the touch. After trying FP-30, I just fell in love with it. The key action is really amazing. It feels similar to acoustic piano which I didn't expect at all with this price range. Sound is also stunning with headphones (FYI I'm using the noise-canceling ones). It creates very realistic sound and particularly the low keys give very deep and grand-like sound. But without headphones, the sound quality is not as good as when I use the headphones. It sounds a bit unclear and heavy, and the volume is weak. Also if you play fast or powerful music, you may hear some clunky plastic sound which I think is unavoidable for most digital pianos at this price range. With headphones, I'm sure you won't have any of those issues.

Key weight, sound, portability = perfection with the Roland Supernatural Digital Piano
My son has used another portable highly popular keyboard for years, so when his second (or third one) broke, he did some extensive research on every portable piano available in today's market. He chose the Roland Supernatural Digital Piano and sent me this video of a quick test run he did just after it arrived, --- the video will go black for a moment,---- but I thought you would like to hear how it sounds compared to other models. He has really enjoyed every aspect of the RSDP, from the weighted keys, bass, sleek lines and multiple ports for writing music connected to a program on his computer. Most of the music he plays is classical. He recommends this model to those looking for a solid product. I asked him what some of his favorite features were prior to submitting this review as I am not the pianist in the family.

Great Product
Works great, sounds great, feels great. Awesome product. I bought this as a gift for my partner. He has played the same baby grand which has been passed down through the family. He randomly tried this product at a music store and commented that he had never played an electric that actually feels like a real piano. The speakers sound great and there are plenty of options to get the sound you want.

Very nice piano fore the Price
I purchased this instrument to use as my upstairs piano. The action is very good--much better than my little Yamaha DGX-230, which had no action to speak of, and didn't have a very good piano sound. So I replaced it with this Roland FP-30. The reason I gave it four stars is because the sound is somewhat muffled, with the speakers pointing down towards the player's feet. However, this is a minor point. The sound could probably be improved by having the piano in a larger space. I have it in a small upstairs bedroom. My main instrument is a Yamaha Arius YDP-V240, which I still like very much after owning it for nearly six years now. The FP-30 was purchased to replace the dinky DGX-230, and it is tons better for playing serious piano music. The DGX is more of an electronic keyboard than a digital piano. My apologies if I offended any owners of the DGX-230. It was a Yamaha, which was why I had gotten it at the time. Yamaha DGX pianos are generally quite good, but to me, the DGX-230 fell short. The keys were so mushy, making the notes sound uneven when played. I wanted an instrument with a better action and better piano sound. Plus, the best part for me was that the FP-30 has a USB to Device port, which is a feature I dearly love. Some of the Yamaha instruments have this feature, but they don't have a way of playing the songs consecutively. You can only play one song at a time before you have to advance to the next song manually. The FP-30 has a way of allowing all the songs to play consecutively, a feature I had with my old Yamaha DGX-500, but don't have on my Arius YDP-V240. The V-240 has the USB to Device port, but no way of playing songs consecutively. I love having piano background music when I want to hear songs that I can't play myself. The FP-30 has no display screen, which doesn't bother me, since I am totally blind and rely solely on physical buttons to operate these pianos and keyboards. I do think Roland could have produced a less clunky setup, since one has to remember which key of the piano to press, along with the physical button, to choose a certain instrument voice. Again, I'm not quibbling much about this, being that more and more digital instruments are getting touchscreens and doing away with physical buttons to operate them. I wanted a simpler instrument with fewer buttons to operate. I learned how to use the FP-30 with the help of a very descriptive YouTube video, where the demonstrator was actually telling us the buttons from left to right. The shipping was very fast. I ordered this piano on Wednesday, August 10th, and got it on Friday, the 12th. I had it mostly figured out by Saturday, the 13th. The recording feature is very simple. The fact that I figured all these features out without any sighted help makes me very happy. I have the piano on my platform stand, which has held many other keyboards in the past. The bottom line, I am enjoying my Roland FP-30 very much, and hope to have it for years.

if you are new for piano learning, it's right for you
I had a crappy electronic piano before(I won't tell you the brand name) and learning piano with it for months. I just can't get the points of the ideal way to use my muscle, my wrist, and my fingers. Now I knew I just didn't have a decent piano to let me feel the keyboard, the weight of it. this keyboard is amazing!

I bought the piano yesterday, and the keys make noises.
I purchased this piano YESTERDAY (OCT. 18) because I just got a job and can't take my family's piano with me. All the reviews made it seem like the choice above Yamaha. Sadly, after only a day of use I've found the keys rattle and make noises.

Lovely keyboard, we were very happy it has a holder for sheet music, feels and sounds good, though there aren’t a huge selection of sounds. The body of the keyboard is rather fat in the vertical direction. Much thicker than any other keyboard I’ve had or seen. Not a problem just strange. Also a plus it comes with a pedal.

First of all, this review is not for the piano itself. Roland fp 30 is an amazing piano at its price range. Two star is for amazon/seller in this review. Product listing says that it has bluetooth. But the piano they are shipping with this is without bluetooth (roland fp 30 apparently has 2 versions, one with bluetooth and one without). Now, absence of bluetooth may not seem like such a big deal, but it screwed up a lot of my plans for learning piano. If you want to connect roland fp 30 to any music learning app, you will either need to connect via bluetooth or usb-b port. For android/ipad you will need usb-b to usb-a female adapter. I have tried 3 so far. None of them worked (I am beginning to think that my piano has defective usb-b port). Plus, I have already bought an expensive piano learning app (before I knew that my piano has no bluetooth) which requires bluetooth midi device. So far I have wasted money on that app, and 3 usb adapters. So this two star is for misleading me into thinking that piano has bluetooth. Don't let this review affect your decision to get roland fp 30, even without bluetooth it's an amazing piano. I am just pissed because amazon misled me here and I wasted a lot money because of that.
