The Basement Watchdog Big Dog CONNECT Battery Backup Sump Pump System

The Basement Watchdog BWD12-120 Big Dog CONNECT is the most capable backup sump pump system I've ever seen. The pump runs strongly and efficiently on battery or on AC power during a main pump failure. It can switch between maintenance-free AGM battery or flooded standby battery. Run time is long. For heavy loads or long outages, it can charge and use two batteries at once. It can charge the battery while running the pump during a main pump failure. It routinely tests itself and reports the results. It supports a WiFi module that alerts the user to power and backup system conditions. The WiFi module can connect daisy-chained water alarms. The pump and the dual-sensor float switch can be unplugged from the controller for easier sump access and sump maintenance. Durability and reliability are top notch, as this product is built like a tank. I've used Basement Watchdog Big Dogs for decades, and this current version is the best. This is the system that I've installed in all my sumps and for family members and friends.

Works great comes with everything you need to install it except the battery. Installed in a basement. Tested by filling up the sump with water. This is installed as a secondary pump. Primary pump was unplugged during testing (to simulate power outage) unit turned on with no issue and will work great during a power outage. Has good output. Would recommend to anyone that needs a battery back up sump pump solution. sorry for the noisy video. The pump is rather quiet, but the water filling the sump cause most of the noise in the video.

Already better than the Zoeller Aquanot 508 it replaced. I really like the dual switch setup so it has a backup. It flows much more water than the Zoeller. The system is quiet, and my initial impression is that it is better build quality than the Zoeller battery backup sump. The warranty is certainly better. Time will tell if it lasts, but a Zoeller 508 pump quit within 3 years, and the switch went out at 5. I also found an issue with the pump when I removed the replacement pump on the Zoeller at 2 years old when I replaced the system with the basement watchdog.

Paying this much for an item, it should be in perfect conditioner. When opening up the packaging, the bottom tray that holds the pump, had a broken tab. The installer was able to zip tie it in place. When installing the control board, the whole front panel is bent and loose from the cover.

This is a game changer. We leave town now and never have to worry again. Good quality.....highly recommend it.

Installing this battery back up sump pump unit was easy breezy. A couple of things worth noting here. If you're replacing the older Basement Watchdog unit with the NEWER more powerful Big Dog Connect battery backup sump pump comes with and has a monitored control unit box. It is also fairly heavy. That being said it's fairly comprehensive. You can also buy this Glentronics optional wi-fi module. You'd also download a smart phone app, sign up and you'll get e-mail or text alerts on your mobile phone. You can see the operating status on the backup Big Dog. pump Eh... what can I do anyway? If the pump activates due to a power failure and I'm 4,000 mi from home? That being said, having your property graded with good functioning rain gutters is so important.
