Legs that feel like new!
My trainer used the stick on my legs and I found it so beneficial that I bought one for my husband and myself to use at home. It's easy to use and highly effective! I had worked my legs without regard to irritating the IT band with overuse and my new trainer, who is all about getting muscle groups to work together, noticed how tight my IT bands were. He used a large foam-style roller at first and then moved to The Stick.I saw how easy it was to use both the foam roller and The Stick and bought both - however The Stick remains my most used and favorite of the two. After just one week of daily use of The Stick my legs are much more flexible and there is no more IT band stiffness.Use on the IT band: I begin by applying gentle pressure just above the knee and move on top of the IT band, continuing in an upward rolling gentle pressure until I reach the hip. I've learned to 'feel' the IT band's movement under The Stick and keep just enough pressure to stretch out the IT band including the nasty knot that formed about 6 inches on the band above the knee. It's tricky, but if you keep just enough pressure on the knot you can get it to 'give' as you stretch out the IT band. Look here for information on the IT band: [...]The Stick has worked so well that I am doing dead lifts with no residual stiffness or pain. I do The Stick after every dead lift session. It feels great! This short stick works best for me on the outer portion of the lower leg, calf, and of course the IT band. It's amazing - my legs feel like new!My husband and I also use it on each other for areas such as the back of the arm and back of the leg.

Recommended by College Coach (Update Comparing to Gaiam)
College sport team coach required that The Stick be purchased for our college athlete son. I saw a variety on the market by this same brand and worried over what made the prices different. This is actually fanatastic and it is one of the lower priced ones. As you use it, the white things and the whole stick bends a bit. So you can use this on your neck, it wraps around a curve. It kills on the legs and it does get the knots out and works out soreness after a workout. I used it for a few weeks before my son went off to college and it's a good deal. Rating 5 stars = Love It. NOTE: When shopping for THE STICK note the sizes and lengths, buy what you need, the price goes up depending on length which makes good common sense. You may not need a giant one, the travel one has been all we need even though it is used at home and at college in the dorm.UPDATE: Comparing to Gaiam similar product, the Gaiam has different texture rollers but the center stick does not bend or flex at all. The texture is painful at time to use and I miss the flex of it compared to THE STICK. These more flat rollers for THE STICK work just fine, the texture is not necessary.

So much pain relief!!!
Bought this after my physical therapist used it during a session. Works better than a foam roller or lacrosse ball on the big thick muscles of the legs. It’s worth the extra cost compared to the cheaper ones available because of the flexible center core which really allows you to get into the muscle. A difference I wasn’t aware of until my physical therapist point it out. That small 1” flex/bendability really allows you to follow the curve of your muscles to get all those tight hidden knots. Don’t be fooled by the imitations, I’ve used both and this is legions better. I use it several times a day. I leave on my bed because I get leg cramps at night and this helps to calm the muscle down. I’m considering buying another one for the office because I walk a lot at work and it would be great to take a few minutes during the day to relieve the tightness. I have been using it for about two weeks now and have seen a huge difference in my pain level. Also having less leg cramps at night, so this is a life saver.

Works great! No need for the bigger size
As someone that doesn't love to stretch (but definitely needs to), the stick provides a quick and effective way to take care of your muscles after a workout or run. I opted for the travel size due to price and ease in taking it on the road. Surprisingly its long enough to cover everything I need, including my back. I'm pretty thin, so it won't cover the entire width of your back for many people. The stick can be used on most muscle groups, and really works well for loosening up tight muscles. Like stretching, it may cause some discomfort for muscles that are tight or aching, but it is a temporary feeling that ends up alleviating the future discomfort you feel after the workout. I can definitely tell the difference the next day between times I used the massage stick and those that I didn't. While not completely taking away any aching or soreness, it reduces it by at least 75% (which totally makes it worth it). You do have to make sure that you are using enough pressure to work your muscles, which will depend on each person and their size. I do recommend taking a look at all of the different models to make sure you are getting the right one for your specific needs. I do wonder if it would be beneficial to have the plastic rings be less smooth. You usually don't have to worry about them slipping, so it just a minor concern. Other than that, it seems like the product is pretty resilient to wear and bending. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would buy it again.
