Dr. Harvey's Specialty Diet Limited Ingredient - Human Grade Dog Food for Dogs with Sensitivities - Salmon Recipe (5 Pounds)

This dehydrated complete diet rehydrates to a food my dogs love. My vet recommended it as a nutritious alternative for home prepared food. It is so easy to use. Smells great. Takes little storage space. It is very high quality. I don’t ever feed regular kibble. The price points on this food are better than air dried kibble when you have big dogs.

I have a 6 year old male German Shepherd that seems to always have skin allergies and hot spots every year. I spend about $250 per allergy shot from the vet, twice a year for him and even then it doesn’t completely fix his skin issues and irritations but does help. I’ve searched for a food that’s healthier for him and easy to prep. So far I’m satisfied with this one and time will tell if it helps with his skin irritations and allergies. I am praying it does! The smell isn’t bad when it’s not wet but when you add the water it smells pretty bad. However, my dog will eat anything and he loves it. It’s a bit pricey considering a small bag makes only 20 lbs of food and my German shepherd is 110 lbs. So, if you do the math the bag will not last long. I wish they would drop the price down like $20 per bag but if it works for his skin and allergies I don’t mind paying the full price for it again.

The product is great, it just not do as expected she broke out in hives worse than ever. I also bought the dehydrated veggies, which I had been feeding my other dog. I switched her to this one and added fresh protein. Her hives went away within two day after the switch. Too bad is not a guarantee product since is not cheap. However, excellent food.

I have been feeding my dog Dr. Harvey's for about 18 months. She is 3 years old. Her lab work has been excellent and she is quite healthy. She loves the flavors - especially if I add the omega oil, which I do once a day. It is pricey, but I decided a long time ago that, if it keeps her healthy, it is worth it. I order a variety of the dehydrated with meat or fish. I used to get the base mix and add cooked meat, but the meat added in mixes are about the same in price and a lot less hassle. I also feed her frozen organic berries and fresh greens as a treat.

My dog has had issues with his skin and gut for as long as I have had him the last 4 yrs. He has had multiple trips to the vet for antibiotics d/t bouts of what we thought was Colitis/diarrhea which was a temporary fix, then he got staff from skin allergies and was placed on more antibiotics, hair was dull, patches of hair gone, and he was just so miserable from scratching every 5 seconds….literally. We had changed his diet 2-3months ago and we think that was giving him consolation as he was vomiting his food up undigested. So I started searching the internet and came across this food, he has been on the food for 3 weeks and it is both short of a MIRACLE for my dog Chewy. Who is a Shih Tzu mix by the way. No scratching, regular bowels movements and no vomiting. Hair is now shiny and he looks and feels so much better!

Update: I purchased this in September and I still have a whole bag of this product. Dog used into inhale this but now scoffs and will go several days without eating even when I try to insist she eat this product. The bag says that it’s been reformulated and I think that whatever was removed, that was what she liked before about the product. I am holding out hope that my dog will like one of the other formulations but until then, I have removed my repeat subscription for this flavor. I like that there is zero waste other than the plastic bag. My dog inhaled the food. Granted she didn’t touch it the first six hours but after I tapped my toe to it and said “food, come eat” she started licking the mush that smelled to me strongly like grass. My niece introduced us to this brand and we watched her four pampered dogs not only inhale the food, but they also went to the other dogs dishes looking for more. She had to separate them. Our dog Pawlette is superrrrrr picky when it comes to snacks and food. She won’t even eat a potato chip or a cheeze-its. The only downside maybe - which is small- is that you have to clean the bowl out between meals. But the dogs clean their plate up so thoroughly the cleaning of the dog dish is easy. I had to rush on here to state my review because the way my dog ate this food was shocking. We love that she ate this with such gusto.
