It's surprisingly difficult to find a textbook that approaches fungi from a cell biology perspective--most books tend to be skewed more towards phylogeny/taxonomy or identification. This book includes an overview of the taxonomy, but then goes more in-depth into the cellular/morphological characteristics that separate fungi from other eukaryotes. This textbook is easy to read and is written at a high undergraduate level; for full comprehension you'll need some background in basic cell biology. Most of the figures are black and white, though the book does also include a colorplate with several pages of full-color figures. I really enjoyed this textbook, and my lab mates keep borrowing it from me as well!

The seller scratched the original prize tag and details and sent to me, I have returned this book, also paper quality is poor, all images are in black and white layout.

I just received this book and was a bit worried about its print quality and how the book would be structured after reading some previous reviews... It isn't a colourful picturebook if that's what you're looking for basically all the illustrations that are in the book are black and white, but very clear and useful I'm not missing colour at all. Its packed with info on biological aspects of fungi some knowledge of cell biology definitely is needed but if you want to learn more about biological aspects of fungi this book will help you with that if you don't mind reading and researching. Worth every penny to me and the print quality is absolutely fine on my copy.
