Great Read - Politics to Poo
Throughout history alliances have been made and broken. This view of these life opportunities at that time is very interesting and added a whole new dimension to my understanding of the size and depth of penetration of the Vikings across some of the World at that time; they were not just raiders. The graphic rawness of life portrayed is vivid. The story line is full of twists and turns. In a minority of places the super critical reader might question the technical feasibility of odd events but may be the author judged that on balance the dramatic effect was more important - notwithstanding, they could all be made to work with a little ingenuity but the detail would possibly be boring to the majority.

Loved it!
The Wolf Hunt is the second book of a really enjoyable series. Great story-telling of a fascinating time in history which previously I knew very little about. Tim Hodkinson has made it fun learning about it.

An excellent read
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*I have deduced to deduct a star for a few reasons. The first is the usage of the same descriptive terms in the book. One would be, 'a chest as wide as an ale barrell' - this is used again and again in the book. Also, 'swords glinting in the moonlight' - it's just used too much.Another gripe I have is the introduction of Surt as a character in the book. He is depicted as King Eirik's beast of war, putting to death those who have insulted the king. He ends up joining the merry band of warriors but he sits in a silent position for a lot of the book. He's there in the scenes and he is begging to be developed more.I know I started the review with some negatives but overall it's an excellent book and the story telling is fast paced and keeps you very engaged. I really admire the author's eye for detail and the knowledge of history that he has. I have pre ordered the 4th book.Nothing is without flaws.Still an addicting book.

More Norns and God's getting in the way
Eisner and the wolf Coates seem to have displeased the Gods yet again. They try any way they can to lift a curse. Read on.

Wow
Warning, do not read before you go to bed. This series are the best I read yet of viking/Saxon sagas. Bed time at 11pm? Nooo bed time at 3am. Fast paced and never a dull moment, always something there to keep you hooked. Would love to see a Netflix series made from these
