Works great for the cost
After sitting in boxes in my garage for nearly 2 years, I finally decided to assemble this machine. It took about 5 hours to assemble. I needed a second pair of hands to mount the bar and the frame for the weight stack. The rest I was able to do myself with relative ease. The bar has round, flat nylon inserts that go on the inside of the bar frame. This was the only part of the instructions that was confusing to me, as I initially put the flat side on the outside of the frame and realized they were in backwards when I was unable to get the bar on.The frame on which the bar slides are chrome square tubes that you lube with a silicon spray that's provided in the box. Those nylon plugs that I mentioned above help the bar glide along the frame. So far the movement has been very fluid, but it's somewhat inconvenient to grab a greasy frame as you move around the frame constantly. I'm having to learn to try not to grab it. Also, I imagine the frame will have to be continuously lubed to keep the bar gliding well. I could see it sticking without enough silicone, however, I haven't had a problem yet.All of the attachments work very well. The weight stack is more than I need for the time being, but comes with 2 1" bars to add plates if needed. I also bought the 2" Olympic plate adapters. My only concern thus far is the vinyl covering on the preacher curl pad. I can feel it stretching down when I do curls. I suspect it won't be long before the vinyl stretches and tears. All in all, a good machine for the price. I'm happy with it.

This machine is awesome.
I bought the early version of this machine back in 1997 before Amazon carried it. It was called Pro-Smith Machine by Body-Solid.The new version of this machine by Powerline still looks virtually the same as the original except for the vertical slides. Mine has the same as the Weider machines which is to say round vertical chrome tubes that slide like silk and have needed nothing done to them except a good wipedown and a light oiling. Powerline needs to go back to this type of round vertical slide design. That aside, this machine is awesome. You won't be disappointed in the results you can get.
