did anyone get this to fit on a 32mm bar? I didn't

No, and trying with a longer screw will alter/strip the threads, let alone not sit right as the diameter is designed for maybe a child's bike with small handle bars. My guess is the manufacturer didn't expect adults may want this too? I installed mine on a handlebar extension adapter. Not ideal for race/ lightweight cycles if grams matter. Picked one up in carbon fiber on here for around $10USD. Works fine, can also attach light, gps, etc. Hope this helps
