I need to go about 275 ft from intercom to camera. can i use cat 5 & if so is there connectors i need to buy or do i splice to your ends

I went about 100' with cat5. I stripped and twisted the pairs together to get 4 larger gauge wires and then butt connected them to the ends that came with the intercoms

Do you just mount it near your door or over your doorbell?

My camera and speaker are on a gate outside about 50 feet away from the front door of my cottage and it works very well.
