Well, yes they definitely are! I presently have 3 (108" - 9ft.) rolls loaded into my Fotodiox system - (black-white + grey). And I have been using all of them for well over (6) months now. I haven't had any problems with them at all. Actually, if I had more studio space. I would definitely be buying more of them.

Q: Would this work with a roll of craft paper? What's the diameter of the pieces that fit into the tube? What is the weight limit?

To tell you the truth, I really don't know the weight capacity as that information is not provided by this manufacturer/distributor/seller. What I can tell you is that a 12-foot roll of white paper is way too heavy for this type of drive set. The plastic parts just can't hold the weight. The plastic ridges and grooves at the "expanding" end of the drive (the section that expands to wedge itself into the tube) slip once you try to turn the roll using the plastic chain. So you're forced to overtighten the drive which all it does is make that expanding part of the drive slip off center or round as it slides to one side or the other inside the tube. At that point, the chain is also strained and it ends up breaking as it's cheap plastic. So for light rolls of paper, I can see this working for a good period of time... But for the type of paper rolls we use, I'm now looking for metal/steel drive systems to handle that kind of weight.

Q: Can I hang up the paper on just these rolls (10 ft savage seamless), or are there any specific poles recommended that go on top of the rollers?

No additional poles are needed. The seamless paper comes on thick, sturdy cardboard rolls that help keep shape.

Q: Can the width be adjusted? My room is 106 inches wide

The item itself cannot be adjusted, but will work with rolled backgrounds from 3ft wide to 12 feet wide.
