This is the second one of these I've had. After several years, the flip-up-the-lid mechanism stopped working unless I held the kettle upside down. But it still heated water fine, and I gave it to a friend.So I didn't hesitate to buy this kettle again, especially given what it costs vs fancier brands.It's great to rapidly heat water for cooking pasta or steaming vegetables.I like the choice of options to heat water for coffee and tea to various temperatures; I use the second-hottest one to make my instant espresso in the morning. And the blue light is cheerful :)

My family loves this and uses it daily. It’s easy to use and we like the light feature along with the different preset temperature settings.

This kettle was fine while it worked, although it's annoying to maneuver around the lid when filling because it doesn't open very far and doesn't stay open easily by itself.However, it has recently started leaking into the plastic base below the glass portion, so a lot of water collects in there and spills everywhere when you're trying to pour it. That's where the electrical part and heating element are, so I doubt it's safe to use now.Also, for a few months when it was new, strings of plastic would come off from around the temperature probe at the bottom of the inside portion if you allowed water to sit in the kettle for a few hours, as others have reported (with pictures).I'm not sure it's worth making a warranty claim because I'd have to pay for shipping both ways. Overall, a disappointment.

My daughters (9&11) love making tea and I wanted them to be more independent without having to use the stove. It’s easy for them to fill, set the temperature, and serve. I love that they can set the “keep warm” function and I can pour a cup when I want some as well. I wish it heated a little quicker; I wouldn’t say it’s any faster than the stove. I also noticed that one of the buttons is already seeing wear, and it’s only 2 weeks old (see picture). It’s good quality and I like the bright light when the water is boiling.

Very reliable, multiple heat settings is a great touch. Chimes upon completion. Boils fast. Very satisfied.Only minor complaints are could be a bit bigger and my hard water is turning the bottom green.

My husband bought this for me. I don't think I would use it but I use it all the time. I love it

Very good product and I enjoyed it so much, but suddenly, just over a year of use - it started leaking. I believe this is malfunction of product because I took great care of it. It literally leaks out full kettle within an hour. . . Asked Hamilton Beach customer support, their reply “Sorry, it was purchased over a year ago, we can’t help you with anything now” Oh well, $50 goes by by , have to buy another one now.

ordered this product mainly because of its different heating levels and that the vessel is made of glass. we can choose what heat level we want. i use lower heat when i want to put my water in a thermos and higher heat when making green tea or coffee.
