A favorite teether of All My Children
I’ve had 4 children in the past 6 years and this is probably the 7th Sophie I’ve purchased because all of my kids love gnawing on her! This one came with an adorable extra little mini Sophie on a keychain that is about 2” tall. It’s easy to clean and easy to hold. Kids loving chewing on her head and feet. I typically buy each child a new one because I have read that mold can develop inside. I clean by hand but you could probably dish wash on top rack

Favorite teether!
I don’t know what it is about this giraffe but my baby is obsessed! Even though it’s pricey, I’d buy it over and over if I had to.

I LOVE Sophie...but blame myself too
I honestly think that the first thing that caught my eye while reading the reviews was the review where a Dad was taping on You tube his reviews of USED Sophies. Ok...that's just disgusting and knowing that it is a teething toy and will be going into your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, friends or whomever's mouth - SHOULD YOU PURCHASE IT USED???That being said, I have purchased a NEW Sophie for every one of my grand kids. I didn't want it being handed down to siblings because its a teething toy and will be going into their mouths to help ease teething pain. The other reason, is because even at older ages (almost 2) and getting those pesky molars, they were still using it. They even knew which one belonged to whom!I'm also not naive enough to think that these aren't dirty inside of them. Especially when I realized that Sophie has an opening for moisture to enter. When you think about it, what about all of those tub toys that are submerged and the child picks them up to play and learns that if you squeeze them the water (sometimes very dirty water) comes out of them. What do you think is growing in them? Yet, I don't hear the big hullabaloo over bath toys that people are making over Sophie. Please don't be foolish enough to think that the dirty water isn't finding it's way into their mouth. I've seen one of my grandchildren use it like a drinking fountain! Needless to say, those types of bath toys are not purchased by this grandmother any more and if I catch any of them using it like a drinking fountain, it immediately goes into the garbage. When I really started reading all of the information about the mold growing inside of the Sophie, I think that part of the reason I was so upset, was because it was happening in a toy that my grandchildren LOVE to this day. When they were teething, it never was far from their side. I feel like someone has punched me in the gut! I've been duped! How could this happen to a toy that we all loved so much and did what it was supposed to do...calm our teething children or grandchildren of horrible teething pain. I just feel a little betrayed and yes, I'll be honest; angry at myself for not thinking this could happen to a toy that is in the mouths of our children where moisture can enter the little hole that is in place for the squeak. As a possible solution, because you shouldn't complain, unless you have a possible solution; why don't we take the squeak out?! Our kids don't need to appear as if they are playing with a dog toy. Removing the hole and corresponding squeak, may solve both of the problems - no allowance of moisture to get inside poor Sophie, and no squeak to make our kids look like they are playing with something we purchased in the pet aisle!I love Sophie and my grandchildren love(d) Sophie. It did what it was supposed to do and it did it very well. That's why I have given her 5 Stars. They were also REAL. No fake ones here and I can honestly say that I have never purchased anything from Amazon without doing my due diligence. We can't see what we are purchasing, or smell it, taste it or touch it. Its the very least we should do and I'm not slamming Amazon. I buy from them on a regular basis and love them. I truly put this "blame" on my shoulders. I'm an intelligent person. I should've realized that this could happen just based on the comparison to the tub toys alone. I truly hope that Sophie manufacturers can find a way to fix the issue because it really is a great product.

Perfect Teething Toy
I had a lot of doubts before buying this giraffe teething toy, but once it arrived, my baby absolutely loved it. The cute giraffe face and gentle squeaky sound easily grab her attention. The soft rubber material makes it comfortable for her to chew on, and it's perfectly sized for her little hands to hold and play with. I'm very satisfied with this purchase!

But now my baby loves it the most.
My baby did not like it in the begining so I returned it. But the seller was kind and asked me to keep the toy even after the refund. But now, after 2 months (at 4 months old), my baby loves it the most. I am happy I bought it.

Don't try to resist Sophie, her powers are too strong and you will LOSE!
When my firstborn son hit the teething age I was determined not to fall for the Sophie hype. I seemed to notice every Manhattan baby in their posh ergonomic stroller riding through the streets of NYC while chomping on Sophie the Giraffe. I would groan whenever I saw Sophie in the hands of yet another babe as I was sure she was just an overpriced baby fashion accessory and I thus, became the quintessential Sophie hater. To me, Sophie resembled an overpriced puppy dog toy with a bad paint job that was more suitable for a 7 lb Pomeranian dog as opposed to my baby. And whenever I heard babies pass by me on the street while squeezing Sophie to make her squeak she only seemed to be that much more of a glorified puppy dog toy scam that was aimed at self conscious striving yuppie urban parents. Thus, I suffered without Sophie at my disposal as my son slurped on other teething toys with little relief when he suffered through his uncomfortable teething phases.Fast forward another few years and I was still quite anti-Sophie when my second child was born. But her teething was so bad that I was determined to give anything a try to provide her with relief - including the hated and possibly over hyped Sophie. In fact, I distinctly remember grumbling to myself as I was purchasing her on amazon with the thought that I was spending over $20 (and about $19 too much) on what was tantamount to a squeaky looking plastic toy teether more suitable for the canine species. Yet, I will fully admit that my cynicism about Sophie started to wane the moment that Sophie arrived looking cheerful in her pleasantly designed packaging. And once I took her out of her peppy package and ran my fingers over her spots and looked closely at her little face that smiled right back at me, I thought to myself ....well, she is actually ... (dare I say it)....cute!Then I handed Sophie to my teething daughter for the true test of her value and lo and behold my daughter took one look at Sophie's face and giggled, then licked her horns and promptly started chomping on her head. And once my baby daughter figured out that Sophie not only felt good on her gums but also squeaked, she was truly in love with her. Since then my daughter has spent countless hours gnawing on Sophie and squeezing her to make her squeak. She started referring to Sophie as 'E' and would scream and motion for her whenever she saw Sophie sitting on the shelf at home.I must mention though that the only reason that I am not giving Sophie 5 stars is because my daughter once managed to get one of Sophie's legs stuffed down towards her throat and she gagged pretty violently. After that, I never left Sophie alone with my daughter at all, Instead, after this happened, I was even more careful to only give Sophie to her when I was holding my daughter or playing close attention to my daughter as she used Sophie for teething, to ensure that my daughter didn't push Sophie's legs down her throat. Since I never really left my daughter as an infant alone with toys anyways, it wasn't that big of a deal for me and it didn't keep her from using Sophie frequently. So, the moral of the story is that the infamous Sophie the Giraffe teether has won over another hardened skeptic. I tried to resist her but her powers are too strong and although you may try to resist her too, before you know it Sophie's magical powers will be causing you to shell out $20 so that your child too can join the other cool kids at the playground and carry Sophie around as the fashionable must have baby/pseudo dog toy, teether that she is. In all seriousness, I would definitely buy Sophie again as a gift for another expecting mom and I have had no problems with her spots coming off despite the amount of teething that my daughter used her for. I would, however, recommend getting a Sophie 'leash' because babies love to throw Sophie like a launched missile out of their strollers and you will be cursing yourself for not buying her a leash to secure her to your stroller when you lose her on a walk and then have to spend yet another $20 for a replacement Sophie! You can find a Sophie leash here TutimNYC Pacifier Clip Toy Sitter Teether Keeper for Vulli Sophie the Giraffe - Pink Waves..or at a website with the name Betsy, minus the B. With that said, happy teething!
