Q: Will this stain hands after applying, like self-tanner? I don't want to use gloves every application.

No, it's just body makeup. Like a very heavy foundation for your legs. You just remove it from your body with soap and water and a bit of scrubbing; it leaves no tint behind. I don't recommend this seller though; the bottle I ordered came opened and spilled. Looked used and returned.

Q: Is the light okay for medium skin

I'm fair and I use medium in winter and deep tan or glow in the summer

Q: I'm full irish (red hair, blue eyes, very pale skin). not interested in "tanning" just want to even out and add shimmer. should i get spray or lotion?

Spray would probably work, I love the lotion because I can make it smoother but then I like the tanned look and it totally smooths out any imperfections.
