The bottom line is that these are a fun toy that I'm glad to have bought. We make a big deal out of choosing which egg to hatch, guessing what might be inside, he helps get the jar and fill it, and then he checks on it a few times per hour to see if it has begun to hatch yet.However, it's advertised that the hatching process will take 1-3 days... but ours go from intact out of the box to shell completely broken apart in 3-4 hours. This really dampens how much fun can be gotten from these, since the anticipation and hatching is the best part.The three little toys are decent quality, but neither of my kids (two and five) are overly interested in them. They are bloated, slick, and soft when they first come out of the water. Once they've dried, their texture and durability is more like a rubber eraser.

I got this for my kids for christmas time. It was a lot of fun to watch them "hatch" and grow. I thought that they were ornaments after they hatched too, but they were just little figurines. It didn't matter to the kids because they had fun with them either way. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because, when you take them out of the water after they have "grown" they start shrinking. I put them away to bring out next christmas, so I am curious to what they will look like when I pull them out of the christmas bin next year. They were out for like 2 weeks and significantly shrunk. Nonetheless, the kids loved the item and it was fun checking on them everyday.

I ordered this as a gift and the product is sort of misleading. I was lead to believe it would be an ornament that you could hang up once the egg hatched but the egg itself is an ornament. Once you put it in water it no longer is one. The thing inside the egg looks okay tiny but when it blows it up just kind of looks like a blob and loses color. It happens quicker then they advertise. I think they state it will take 2 days for the egg to hatch and ours opened in about 2 hours. Then the thing just fills with water and gets bigger to a point. It's an all right stocking stuff. Nothing too amazing though.

One egg came already cracked and one of the animals "snowman" never grew as large as the others despite keeping it in water for 2-3 weeks

The excitement of Christmas was extended thanks to these "eggs". Every morning my three year old son would wake up early and check on his eggs, and just when he was about to give up on them (about 3 days) they shells began to crack and the excitement continued. These little guys grow to become HUGE, we had our bear and snowman around 6 - 7 inches tall, the penguin just got fat.Bad things, they shrink back to itty bitty figurines when they dry out and can't hang the figurines on your tree, eggs are not my first choice for Christmas decorations (it's a Christmas tree, not an Easter tree). But you can't beat the excitement my son had anticipating the animals to come crawling out of the shell.

These were fun for my three year old to watch grow! I was freaked out by how slimy they were coming out of the eggs but once I got over that it was ok haha. They are cheap toys but cute enough. My favorite was penguin and the snowman was a little creepy!

I bought this during the holidays for my daughter. She was very excited to watch them hatch so we put them in water right away. The speckled egg started hatching within a day with the green one hatching the next. The only problem we had was even after three days in water the red one didn't even have a crack in it. I ended up helping it along.Thetoys inside are good sized and even when they dry out the stay that way. They don't shrink down to nothing like most other hatching toys I've seen.

Bought these for a stocking stuffer. Sadly the eggs were all cracked or broken when I took them out of the box on Christmas Eve to stuff the stockings. They didn't work the same in the water and ended up in the trash :( total waste of money~

Biggest waste of money ever!!!! Do not buy it!
