Q: Are these round core, hex core, or something else?

These are Round Core, and unfortunately I didn't discover that until I'd pre-cut my strings. Nowhere on the package does it say they are Round Core. It turns out you have to actually tear the box open to find that out—when was the last time you did this. Now I have a dead set of strings.

Q: Regarding tone/overtones, how do these compare to martin sp LS & elixir phosphor bronze? Veritas have a higher nickel % = +bass/life/-treble. ?

I'm not familiar with martin strings but I have used elixir and like the elixirs and Dr veritas strings and I personally like the tone in both but prefer non-coated strings so I have switched to Dr for that reason.

Q: How do these compare to the same gauge in exlixir and martin sp lifespan phosphor bronze?

DR Veritas strings are not coated, hence play just like normal string feel with normal tension. Elixir strings sound OK and last longer but are harder on your fingers; also harder to bend. Martin SP has a fuller sound than all of the coated strings but they don't seem to last as long as Elixirs or D'Addarios.Overall, among the three I place Martin first, Elixir second, and then DR strings.
