No plastic coating, I think it makes a difference
We use Diamond Crystal Salt in our water softener and it is working just fine. We see the salt has no pellet coverage and there is no debris in the tank.

Not true to the description! Says it’s 50lbs and what I received was 40lbs.

Best Salt for your WAter Softener
I know the ratings on value and taste aren't great, it's salt, had to order it online because the shop that carried it locally stopped. So with shipping it was much more pricey than I used to pay. But our plumber swears by them and doesn't recommend any other salt crystals. As for flavor...well....salty :)
