I've used Tried and True Original Wood Finish on many projects over the years on all different types of wood. I've always gotten excellent results. T&T is very easy to use. I apply with a brush, but I suspect you could use a cloth or sponge-type of applicator. Since it contains beeswax I find it spreads more easily in a warm room or outside on a warm day. You only need a thin layer which you buff after it dries. You can add as many coats as you like, but I've found two or three are usually plenty. There's no need to sand or steel wool in between coats. Since it is just beeswax and linseed oil, there is no problem with drips or streaks. Once you buff it out you get a nice even, no-gloss finish that brings out the beauty of the wood. If you want some shine, just keep buffing. I've never used buffer to finish, hand rubbing has always produced great results. T&T will darken the wood somewhat. The longer you let it soak in and the more coats you add, the darker the wood will become. It usually gives a golden-brown or honey color to lighter woods. The finish is "rich" with nice depth. It's a very nice alternative to other finishes because it so easy to use and produces fantastic results. It's also free of petroleum products. You can clean up with soap and hot water. Since it does contain linseed oil you'll want to wear gloves, make sure you have plenty of fresh air, and soak any rags in water after use. And, don't put it near any heat sources. Great product!

This finish is excellent. I used it to finish a vintage secretary desk and the project turned out wonderfully. Went on easy with a rag and some elbow grease and had no fake chemical smell. Buffed it to a rich shine after it was dry. A little goes a long way, as you need to use multiple very thin coats, and I find that it's best to use the product on a hot day. It has beeswax in it and I think the warmth helped it sink in and set more quickly than it otherwise might have. I highly recommend this as an alternative to Danish oil or other toxic finishes.
