I am a friend and still enjoyed this book.
I did a digital download of this book and used the window 8 narrator to listen to it. I am not a person that loves reading but I love the information. Mary has brought her research together in this book and I so enjoyed it. I may be a friend of Mary's and have talked to her on some of these subjects but I still enjoyed her book. I wish she would do a author read book on CD. Mary is such an interesting person and has years of research behind her books. I have spend time at her and Brad's cafe along with their conference. Mary's circle of friends includes many of the people now featured on the sci-fi channel. Sometimes it is the less known authors that offer the most and are willing to take the biggest risk on risky topics. Wisconsin has a lot of history and I think Mary is doing a good job at researching it and consolidating it into her books. I look forward to her next book. If your in Burlington, WI don't miss the chance to stop in to say hi to Mary and Brad.

Don't Buy This Book!
You would be better served spending the money on a couple of McDonalds meals than waste it on this book! Outside of her prelude and woeful attempt to link red haired giants in Burlington, WI (i.e., chapter 13), there's no documented evidence that supports the title of this book! The first half of Sutherland's book is a blend of New Age mysticism, Buddhism, Animism, and Hinduism that attempts to support that ancient Atlantis was near/around Burlington. The second half is mostly regurgitated news articles of excavated mound findings throughout the 1800 & early 1900s. This book is not properly researched and sourced as there's myriad subjective - and yet unsubstantiated - theories that call into question Sutherland's research as a whole. For example, in chapter one, page 29, she states "The major deity of ancient Central America was Kukulkan who is the Inca god Viracocha. The temples in Mexico connect him to Pacal Votan, whose son Chan Balan is shown with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot." This is the standard "research" that you'll see within this book. First, anyone who has researched Pacal Votan or Chan Balan statutes or art will know there is NO evidence of six fingers or toes; most are five fingers/toes. In fact, about 40 percent of any residual statues shows these two with four fingers/toes - not six. Furthermore, it would be ideal if Sutherland did her own research because the above quote is copied/pasted from the following site: http://www.sydhav.no/sixfingers/statues.htm.There's a plethora of additional examples of shoddy research with this book but chapter three - page 42 is a glaring example. To use Dr. Jim Hurtak's "Chambers of the Deep" is irresponsible writing! Real Egyptologists know this bogus story has been circulating around the Internet since 2004. There's not one bit of evidence that Hurtak was on a team of researchers allowed by former Egyptian President Sadat that used ground penetrating radar to map out suspected tunnels near/around Giza. None of the Egyptologists I spoke with who actually lived in Egypt during this period are aware of such a project. What group was Hurtak a member of? Why hasn't any of Hurtak's team come forward to substantiate Hurtak's claims? The fact is Hurtak is a New Age writer similar to Sutherland! Furthermore, this story is copied per the letter from numerous Internet sources that have circulated this story over the years. If you really want to learn about red-haired giants in North America from a professionally researched and sourced book, I strongly recommend you read Ross Hamilton's "A Tradition of Giants - The Elite Social Hierarchy of American Prehistory."
