Good product. Here's a few things you might want to know before buying: The biggest thing I was worried about when I got this was whether the connection between the fid and the extension would be solid. The connection is very strong and I have no worries about how it will work going forward. The tip to this thing is pretty thin. So far, it hasn't snagged on the cord at all, but I could see it happening. Easily fixed with a little sand paper if it bothers you. It's not really a problem though; I'm planning to leave mine as it is. The opening on the rear of this thing is very tight for paracord. It works great, but you do need to make sure that when you melt the end of your paracord that you do it cleanly, and don't have anything hanging out past the diameter of the cord. Even throwing a slight taper on the melted paracord would work great. It's definitely not too small, just pay attention when you form the ends. Other than that, it works, looks and feels great. It has, what I consider to be, a more comfortable heft to it than a lot of the aluminum ones, and no cheap anodizing means no bare spots later. I'd definitely purchase again; buy with confidence.

new to fids, but these are really nice, sooo useful, one of those things i didn't know i needed till i found out they existed. i looked at a thousand fids on amazon, and chose these because they have a 'pointier' point on them than the others i looked at here. turns out that was a good call, because in tight places, the pointier end has proved to be just what i needed to work a cord. the screw-on part works really well. hint to newbies like me: if you leave a longer piece of cord, it goes easier 'sewing' the ends in. but if you have a too-short end left on your piece, push the fid into the piece where you want the cord to go and ~then~ screw the cord into the fid, just to pull the short end through.

We already had one set of fids we use with 550 type III paracord. This set of fids has a sharper point which works much better for finishing the decorative knots on our "get-back" motorcycle whips. The knots are pretty tight once we start lacing multiple strands up through the center of the knot. These fids cut the time in half of making the knots from our old rounded head style fids. They fit 550 cord perfectly by threading the cord into the end. Highly recommend these for knot work or lacing smaller diameter cord onto 550 bracelets. Simply melt the smaller cord onto a piece of 550 then thread that into the end of the fid. The bike whip pictured is 550 cord. The two bottom bracelets pictured are 550 cord with nano cord interlaced using the fid.

Shipped by Amazon, and kind of special that way. I received 3 of the 4 the first time. Had to provide my own package to send them back for a swap. Awesome product, but kind of a pain if the package arrives without all of them. Shame on Amazon for that one.
