Very insightful
This book has been able to successfully blend both academia and story telling in one. I might start at beginning and read it all over again.

too many silly over complicated wordings
ok this book was to be about the mind set of people living off grid, well lets face it . if you are off grid you are pretty down to earth . you have set your self intentionally away from the ways of the outside world. this book looses your interest with over complicated explanations of this simple life. ,

Incredible!
A glimpse into the lives of off-the-grid Canadians. Their research and story-telling made me want my own little piece of off grid heaven.

Very inspirational.
This book is amazing. It's more about the off grid philosophy than a "how to" guide. As a tiny houser living off grid in Alberta, it was a very inspiring read. I would read a bit each night and it would keep me trudging forward with the trials of living off grid in a freezing climate. Lots of good tips in this book and insights into the slow living movement.

An eye opening book on what it is to live off the grid nowadays
A really nice book presenting off-grid living through an ethnological study but also through the eyes and experiences of the authors while researching the book. The book is not trying to get you to live of the grid but rather presenting you all the facets of this life style.
