Kamenstein Food Storage Canister, Large, Red

I'm shocked by what they consider "Large" - this is no bigger than a standard thermos! If you want a cute little red tin to keep your tea bags in, great. I wouldn't recommend coffee, because it would spill all over trying to get the lid off. I was expecting this to be the size of a flour or sugar canister, and it's half that size. I promptly returned it - waste of money! Far too expensive for the flimsy little thing that it is.

I need a canister for holding food scraps, since up until recently New York City was collecting them separately. I tried various canisters - coffee, ceramic, metal and all had the same problem - they had an inner lip around the top to hold the lid. When I put a plastic bag in them and filled the canister, I couldn't easily remove the bag; it got caught on the lip. This canister doesn't have an inner lip and works perfectly!!!! There is an lip around the top on the outside, so a rubber band stays easily in place. This makes collection of food scraps easy and convenient

I loved my first one so much I bought more. I use one for my sugar and one to hold chocolate kisses. I am waiting for the smaller ones to be back in stock but I would like to replace many other ugly storage containers with these. The lid isn’t tightly installed, it has an airtight rubber bushing but it’s just tight enough to be airtight, not enough to lift the container by the lid of have any sort of actual suction. The color matches my red kitchen perfectly and these reduce the footprint of previous containers. I will be buying more of these.

I like it. It's a nice-size tin, but unless I received one with an inferior seal, it doesn't seal well...is NOT air-tight as they say in description...it does seal well enough, though, for what I'm using it for. If someone wants truly air-tight, this is not for you!

I wanted these to work. BUT the "Red" isn't a true red. It's more of a mauve red. Returning.The canisters are accurate to size description. The construction seems very sturdy--well made.
