Hi, thanks for your question. Our chess pieces are non-magnetic but pieces are weighted, which are stable to use.

Their is a basic booklet to explain the pieces for chess and draughts hope this helps

The chess set is beautiful, I can't fault it. I think the figures are hand-crafted, so some tiny variation is inevitable, but that's part of its beauty. However, this is only under close inspection, I would not say the figures are different from each other. Wood is a living material, if you want complete uniformity get a plastic set.
