This is a great cat tower

This is a great cat tower. The burlap (lighter material) and Jute (darker material) are very loved by my cat. The base seems quite stable. There are a few small problems with the tower though. My cat primarily favors the jute material and is not much of a fan of the burlap so entirely covering the horizontal platforms with jute would be more ideal since cats seem to prefer it. The one platform that is made entirely of jute has a hole in it forcing my cat to sleep uncomfortably on the side of the hole. An offset/half size platform without a hole would have been more ideal and provided the needed step to the round platform. Most cats would not use a hole placed in that spot when they can either jump to the jute platform or climb from the jute/burlap to the jute platform. Finally the major issue was the posts. I had heard that some people complained that the posts were paper covered, but the product page on amazon states that the posts are covered in sisal (see screenshot). I assumed that the product had been improved by adding sisal posts and that amazon would not allow a false product listing. Unfortunately, this was untrue when the box was received. The box states "Material: jute and paper rope". There is not a single piece of sisal in this product. The paper rope is impenetrable to the determined claws of my cat. I have likened it to cement. My husband even tried to run a pocket knife over it to rough it up (so my cat could scratch) and the knife didn't even leave a scratch. (A serrated knife may work better at this.) The material covering the posts is better sold as a scratch deterrent and the company should be shamed for false advertisement on a possibly major detail. On the positive note this is a great piece of furniture, my cat took to the platforms immediately and it is a wonderful looking piece that does not cost a small fortune. It blends stylishly into a room and has a fair amount of durability than a fleece covered tower would, which is a major selling point if you have horizontal scratching cats.Long story short: If you want a cat tower for a lounging or a horizontal scratching then this is the one. If your cat actually likes to scratch vertically; I'd get a different tower or buy some sisal rope and some nails.

Great cat tree for cats that like to scratch upholstery

My cat is totally not interested in carpet covered scratchers, jute rope scratchers, or cardboard. She is much more interested in upholstery, particularly if there's a nice wide weave. This is the first scratcher she likes better than my couch and it's less ugly than most scratchers (let's be honest, there's a real dearth of nice looking scratchers on the market). The only reason I knocked off one star is because I REALLY wish the company would sell individual replacement pieces. I emailed them and got no response. My cat destroys the top perch and the upper rectangular section every six months or so and I buy an entirely new cat tree. I really wish I could just replace the worn out pieces, and avoid throwing away the perfectly good parts. I figured out that if I buy the 4-level scratcher and reconfigure it, I have one replacement rectangular piece and it makes it last longer. Overall, I recommend this product.

Good product for the price!

Shipped and delivered on time, the product is exactly as pictured. It is easy to install and it looks nice after it's put together. It seems relatively stable, although just to be safe I put it so that it gets support from my desk as well as the wall. My cat has no problems jumping onto the first flat level from the ground, she hasn't quite figured out how to go up through the hole on the 2nd flat level.I'll also second the comment the previous reviewer gave about the cat-dome. It's a bit too enclosed for my 1.5year old 8-10lb cat to comfortably fit in. Also, I wish that the posts were covered by the same coarse material as the levels, as my cat has shown no interest in scratching the polls because she can't get a grip on them.*****EDIT*****Since my last review, my cat has gotten used to the cat-dome and enjoys it quite a bit--seems to have no trouble getting in or out anymore. Also, I have reconfigured this cat tree into two separate parts (both of which are medium height now instead of being 1 super tall structure--see pictures). I find that this adds stability to the separate parts as well as 2 fun things for my cat to explore. Also, my cat has started to use the scratching posts!

CAT TREE IS KIND OF UNSTABLE...NEXT TO MY OTHER TWO, BUT MY KITTENS DON'T MIND

This is the first cat tree I ever bought my kittens. When I assembled it and saw how unstable it was, I doubted my kittens would use it because I had read that cats don't like to be on anything unstable. But to my surprised my kittens used it a lot. The only disappointment was that the jute material on the scratching posts my cats didn't like for scratching. They only like sisal. So what I recently did is here in Amazon I bought about 200 feet of sisal rope and recovered the posts with that and now they use it. Took me about 2 hours to cover both bottom posts and it took 100 feet of rope. I used Elmer's glue which stuck Ok but was extremely messy. I bought glue sticks to finish the rest of the posts. Also recently I replaced the screws that came with the tree with the same size screws but the ones I bought have grooves on the entire length of the screw which made it A LOT more stable. What I like about this is that it really doesn't take up that much space compared to the other cat trees I have.
