This is something I have been wanting for a long time and I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger. I have used it for a number of projects. I make joinery a lot more simple and secure; I used it to create the attachment them used yellow glue to make the attachment permanent and it has worked great. Another advantage about the 3/4 inch size ( I also got 1/2 inch) is it fits a lot of broom handle attachments so I am able to replace handles with handles from worn out brooms.

Works great. Nice to be able to make wood threads that work. Used linseed oil as lubricant, some breakout on the male and female threads as expected. Works great on book vise I made. Blade in box is adjustable for desired fit of threads. I'm happy with it.

The taps work great. The die is very fussy and fragile. You can get good results but you have to baby it. The first steel blade inside the die was chipped and didn't cut well. I ordered a replacement blade which did cut well. Dialing in the blade takes some patience. And the soft brass bolt that holds the blade breaks easily if you overtighten it even a little. I had to machine a replacement bolt out of steel. Definitely not for production work!

3.5 stars. The bottoming tap is so-so, but the taper tap is poorly made and has some of the worst grinding burrs I’ve seen. If you inspect with a magnifying glass, you can’t see any cutting edges, just rows of broccoli. These are big taps and they need to be sharp.

Easy to use. Creates a smooth thread.

So I didn’t give it a 5 star as value for the money because I got three sizes and dropped ~$200. I’m not sure if it could be made less expensively having only one two handed handle and changing out the thread box. Having said that, I’ve only used one so far and it worked terrific! I just need to be more careful getting the hole perfectly straight for the tap. I have many uses for these and expect they will do well.

I had bought a different brand for price, but it did not cut threads. It just munched up the dowel, leaving a very roughed up surface. While online for the return process, I ordered this King's Country threading kit. I had good experience with them in the past, yet the price threw me off. Looking at the results from my foray into cheaper tools, this one is well worth the price. It dry cut nice threads right out of the box. The threads should be even better once the boiled linseed oil is applied to the dowel. I am very pleased with this threading kit.

I was excited when I found a better quality hardwood thread box than the cheap plastic ones made in Taiwan. Even better it was sold by a small business in the US. Unfortunately, it’s the same garbage plastic product from Taiwan. Plus, I bet just the cutter tip has been tempered and after a few sharpenings it will crumble. I’m not willing to spend $70 on the same product others are selling for $40.

This set works very well. I have not found any issues after cutting a lot of pieces.

As others have also noted it is disappointing that the handle is made of plastic and not hardwood as shown on Amazon and indeed on the box. For that the price feels a bit steep and I feel somewhat duped. I suspect you’d find a similar or even identical version for a lot less direct from China. I do therefore have doubts over the longevity of it. The contents of the 1” version arrived earlier today as per the images attached. The instructions included are also attached which may prove helpful if you’re sitting on the fence or curious as to how this works. Once I’ve had chance to test it I will post further images but based on what others have posted I am optimistic of achieving good results. On a positive note this arrived fairly swiftly in the UK, approx 1 week from ordering.

I received this today and in its first use it is very good and changed my dowel rod into a lovely thread. However, be aware that although it is implied that three different sizes are included, only one is supplied. In my case it was the half inch or 12mm size that I received. I would like to purchase larger taps and dies but can't find them on the Amazon web site. Read the instructions and use linseed oil as a lubricant when cutting the threads. If this is done you should get really good results. I did and am well pleased.

J'avais des vis en bois a fabriquer pour un jeu. Cet outil à bien fait le travail. Comme bien des clients et comme ébéniste j'aurais aimé que l'outil pour la filière soit en bois, mais je m'en contente. La livraison a été rapide et le prix était tel qu'annoncé.
