Actual Alternating Air Mattress
I have a relative who is in need of a mattress that won’t cause bedsores. This one definitely fits the bill. Great investment, they last for a few years, so we feel like we got a great deal.Several different modes to choose from in order to provide optimal comfort and protection.

User friendly and effective
So far everything works perfectlyMy only recommendation to the manufacture would be to place the cpr release at the head or foot of the mattressAs sometime it clashes with the side railI had to move my side rail down a bit so it does not clashI was lucky to be able to do this,

TOO LOUD, Could not return without paying large "restocking fee"
My husband is a 6' tall 220lb quadriplegic and he has been at home for almost 10 years now. He has never had a sore because we invest in these mattresses. We have owned several Low Air Loss/Variable Pressure mattresses and they do not last forever, maybe 4-6 years. So when out last one started losing air we wanted to try this one because it had an auto feature for firmness based on the size of the patient. The biggest problem with this type of mattress is pump noise. The first one we got way back was about $400 and we had to send it right back because we could not sleep a wink it was so loud. Since then we have had a couple of Drive mattresses, all in the $650-800 range and they have been good and quiet. They get a little noisier as they get older but really just a little vibration as opposed to the soft hum they have when new. This one is very loud straight out of the box. It has a pattern noise when it cycles pressure that shakes the bed a rattles against the footboard and also a LOUD hissing at the air release valve. This happens every 10-20 minutes, depending on the setting you use. He says the mattress is quite comfortable and the controls are easy to use but neither of us can sleep for the noise!I decided to return it and buy another tried and true Drive. When I processed the return I got a response saying there would be up to 50% restocking fee if it had been out of the package. How was I supposed to know there was a problem if we did not unpack it and try it out! Then when I questioned this, I was told it would actually be 15% since we had not had it more than 30 days. So, with shipping it back to California, it was going to cost me about $200 to just return it!So to save everyone else this hassle, don't buy this product if you care about pump noise. We are going to try to reduce the noise with foam since we cannot afford to replace it if we have to pay that much to return it. For this level of mattress at this price you should get a whisper quiet pump. Buy a Drive!

Quit working after 3 weeks.
Had this just over three weeks. The alarm kept going off and initially turning it off and back on solved the problem, then the alarm wouldn't stop going off. It wouldn't move off Max. Firm and nothing else worked. tried calling Apex but Saturday and no one in customer service. Tried sending message and it says will take a min. of 2 days for anyone to answer. My husband has been a paraplegic for over 50 years and 4 months ago got a flesh eating bacteria and was in hospital for almost 4 months. We really needed this to work as he has a wound vac and will have for at least another 3 months. Would help if the company had tech support

This was a purchase for my quadriplegic friend. He felt great the first night after sleeping on it and told me that the bed would not allow him to wake up. Lol- He really needed this as it is helping also to heal his wounds
