Interesting
Reading this to my autistic son we both love it and I'm learning too. Will Smith needs to reads this, it explores anger issues and how to handle it.

informative, in a fun way
I bought this book for my 6 year old son who has ADHD and struggles particularly with emotions. (although it would be suitable for any kids) It is a fun book to read together, talk about what emotions are, what they make you feel like and how you can deal with them. It has lovely, colourful illustrations and I imagine can work with a broad age range. I even suggested that my son's school buy it as I think it would benefit many primary aged children.

With buying
Loaned this from the library, was a hit with my 6yr old so ended up buying it. It’s really helped him express some of his emotions. It’s aimed at his age group.

Love the concept but not sure how useful this may be to a child who seeks help
I am a huge fan of Dorling Kindersley and this hard-backed book is packed full of colourful illustrations to depict the different sorts of emotions that a human can feel. The book introduces medical terminology such as hippocampus, prefontal cortex, endorphins, etc and this is certainly beyond the realms of a 5 or 6 year old who may be unhappy at school, for example, or for a child who is in need of discussing anger management issues. It is also quite basic ‘Fear may tell us when it’s time to run away’. Yet it does not investigate the ‘flight or fight’ concept.Nevertheless, it describes human emotions such as happiness – how it makes us feel, what makes us happy and how to be happy, including socialising and how to relax. Other emotions similarly covered are anger, fear, sadness - and covers diverse but commonplace subjects such as separation and divorce, bullying and the death of pets. However, the largest problem with this book is that no age range is specified. With literary quotes from well-known children’s literature prefacing each chapter and introducing medical concepts, this book would seem to be more appropriate for the pre-teen. Yet, then again, with the colourful illustrations depicting small boys and girls, I would suggest that this book is more probably targeted at the 6-10 year old age group.
