I'm 5'8'' and ordered the long but had to take them up. I would have been fine with regular fit I believe.

I only wore mine twice before the pocket frayed inside I still wear them as I need to but have to wear a long T-shirt to hide it. They are a nice fit so maybe I just got a poor quality pair. I couldn’t send them back because I cut a label out and took them up
