AWESOME product , very good quality the pieces are the traditional design, so they are easy to tell apart, perfect size, metal pieces that are going to last a lifetime and then some. I have one that I bought at the 1980 WORLD’S Fair, but it’s too big and the design to elaborate hard to tell a Bishop from a queen…. I’m very happy with my purchase

Purchase these for a local high school chess club and they have been fantastic. They can withstand constant use with no wear to show for it. Would highly recommend.

The chess pieces have a unique shiny metal finish to them-uniquely different from others viewed. However, the description of the set online indicates the word "Large" when describing the product. And- I guess the term "large " is relative-but the size of the pieces, and more importantly the board itself is far from being Large. Another aspect is that the dimensions that you need to dig for in detail, are expressed in cm instead of inches. This makes the piece height and board size again difficult to determine. Further investigation revealed that the metal set is Not available in a bigger chess piece size or board playing size, which would be desirable. Ultimately needed to order a separate larger playing board that was "larger"!My recommendation is that the mfgr/distributor make available a larger size board and larger chess pieces in the same metallic finish to appeal to a broader audience. And of course- convert or express any dimensions into inches to clarify or avoid any confusion.

Great set. The pieces are heavy and have a great feel to them. I personally didn't like the hinged board and I use the pieces on another board that I already had. However, hinged board was good quality and if I wanted a travel set I would buy this again strictly for that purpose (or maybe I will just grab some cheap glass or plastic pieces for the one I have).

If you enjoy chess, this is a great board to start with.

I am an avid chess player and I wanted an heirloom-quality chess set with metal pieces that I can teach my grandkids to play on as well as leave to them when I pass from this world. This set is perfect. High-quality , heavy metal pieces with clear details in a fine wooden box with foam cutouts for each piece in the appropriate shape. My only quibble is that the bronze and green colors and a bit too similar but still easily distinguishable in good light.
