Great starter extensions!
This is my first time ever having extensions, so that’s the point of view from which I’ll be evaluating these extensions.I’ve been having issues with hair thinning for the last year and my hairdresser finally sold me on the idea of tape ins. She recommended that I try these Full Shine hair extensions from Amazon because she’s had other clients wear them, and they’re very cost friendly for a newbie who may not end up liking extensions (spoiler I love how I look with extensions. The extra work is worth it).Up until this point, I assumed that hair extensions were always in the thousands, so I was very surprised to be able to buy the two packs I needed for $80. She had me buy a pack of 16 inch and a pack of 14 inch. I bought extensions lighter than my natural hair color and then hand dyed them myself using the dye I put on my roots and the color came out beautiful. I purchased extensions that had highlights in them, so that when I dyed them myself, there’d be a lot of dimension in the color, and it worked out.My hairdresser placed these, so I did have professional installation, and you can see the results in my before and after picture.Pros: these extensions are soft to the touch, and they actually blend really well with my thin fine hair. However, even though they feel soft, they’re definitely a coarser hair than mine, which is great because that means they actually hold a curl. I can curl these with a 2 inch barrel, let them cool, and then brush out the curls, and I have amazing waves that hold all day. I’ve been really happy with the texture of the hair.I wore this set for six weeks and none of the tape slipped with me washing my hair about once every 5 to 7 days. I did use heat styling on these and everything was fine. They felt heavy at first, but after the first four or five days I got used to the feeling and as they started to grow out they became more comfortable. I had them taken out at six weeks so I could re-dye my roots and move them up.Cons: these extensions definitely shed a lot. In the six weeks I wore them, everytime I brushed my hair there was hair all over the sink which has never been a problem for me. And when I was cleaning them up and examining them for reuse I could definitely tell that the used extensions (versus the few leftover new ones we didn’t use) were about 25-40% thinner than the new ones so these extensions do lose hair rather quickly. Some of the ends got pretty scraggly. That being said, even though they were visibly thinner, I still went ahead and re-taped them and had them installed for a second six weeks. My hair dresser ended up trimming off the raggedy ends. The after picture attached is actually day one of my second six week cycle so those extensions are six weeks old. I think 12 weeks will probably be the max for these extensions before they are too scraggly to rewear, but that’s still really good for $40 a pack I think.Another con is that they don’t come with enough tape strips to fully re-tape all of them. My hairdresser had to give me some from her stash. If you are brand new to extensions, I’d say for sure give these go. But I’d recommend having them professionally installed if you can. I think there is an art to placing these so they are comfortable and concealed, which is what you get when you pay a hairdresser. Ulta has good rates for a professional installation.

Blend well with very short hair
Great for the price, hair texture is pretty different from that of my own natural over processed bleach blonde hair but a little dry shampoo and time is the best remedy for that. I always buy 3 different shades of blonde, and cut them after installation, and they look great straight, curled, and air dry wavy… they take a few days to get used to and installation in the back of the head is a little tough….i found a way to attach the side without the tape to the installation tool so that I could hold my hair and the tool would hold the extension. A little heavy feeling at first and if you put them too tight to the scalp they’re gonna give you a migraine, but hands down the best brand on Amazon is full shine. I wore these for probably 8 weeks and then bought more tape and put them back in for 8 more…. They’re sturdy. If this is your first time doing tape ins….BUY EXTRA GLUE REMOVER BEFORE you start to put the hair in….and invest in the installation plier type things to ensure you’ve installed them correctly and without any air bubbles! Leaving small air pockets can cause your hair to mold and fungus and bacteria to grow and can harm your natural hair. That is with any and every product….Tape ins are great DIY at home affordable extensions but educate yourself!!!!

Great product
Full shine tape in extensions are my favorite, my go to and I’ve been using them for 5 years now. They stay in place. Wash and dry like my real hair. They honestly never come loose. They last in my hair for a month or so. Depends on how fast my real hair grows. I reuse the extensions about 3 times. The colors they offer match my hair perfectly. I order several packs at a time to always have new hair ready to go as needed. Worth every penny!

Hair matts up like an old Barbie doll that’s been played with too much
When I first had these put in by a stylist I loved them. They were beautiful and silky, softer than I expected. I used to have Cinderella extentions, so I am quite familiar with how to care for and manage extensions. I wanted to try tape in and my stylist suggested these. The first two “washings” I just rinsed with warm water. The first was 5 days after installation. I’m blessed with a dryer scalp so I don’t produce much oil. The third washing I applied a very little bit of Biolage shampoo on the top and crown of my head. It’s gentle and sulfate and paraben free. I used Biolage conditioner on everything below the tapes. I have a bamboo towel to wick most of the moisture out. I have a variety of leave in conditioners and I used pure Argan oil. I used a wide tooth comb and/or a Wet brush specifically made for detangling. It has far fewer bristles and they are really soft. After getting them wet four times I noticed all of a sudden I was getting bad breakage. We were in the car and my hair felt sort of tangly so I ran a quick brush through it and hair bits started flying everywhere. This was upsetting and confusing. When we got to where we were going I noticed my hair in the back was one big tangle. Being that I was sitting in a car for 30 minutes there was zero reason for this. It would mat up like a birds nest with me just sitting there. I had to bring a brush and excuse myself to go to a restroom every 20 or 30 minutes to brush the mats out.I bought another box thinking something was defective so my stylist could take out the tangly bits. It took a week for me to get an appointment and dealing with these things was a nightmare. Trying to keep them brushed out caused significant damage to my own hair.Four washes later it was the same exact thing. I’m assuming these are coated with something and when the coating wears off it tangles itself up. The cuticles didn’t go the same way or something. I bought four boxes total and paid nearly $300 for four boxes of extensions that looked like old Barbie doll hair after a four year old played with it in the bath and brushed it a hundred times. The care I took of them was perfect, so something is wrong with this hair. If you want something temporary for an event or something these would do fine. They would never last the 3-6 months that they claim. You won’t get 4 weeks out of them unless you never get them wet.
