Can't believe they still make these.
I bought this mostly for the nostalgia, but opted for the smaller C Cell version rather than the classic D Cell just because the D Cells are giant and heavy whereas this smaller light will actually fit in my backpack.Anyway, not a lot to say. It's good quality. Obviously not bright compared to LEDs, but you probably know that already. If you need a practical reason for your nostalgia-driven purchase, keep in mind planet Earth is due for a Solar Maximum, which means solar flares and EMP bursts in the next couple decades. It might be good to have a flashlight with no electronics among your preps.

Works as described and it's a maglite.
I made the mistake of ordering the incandescent/xenon version and had to order the upgrade which cost more than the flash light! But it's still a maglite and I'm very happy and satisfied with it! I use mine for everything that needs light, such a versatile and legendary flash light! I have a silver 2D so this time I purchased a 2C in black. All in all I'm very satisfied. Thank you, RMH. AMAZON ROCKS!

Compact and Sturdy Flashlight
Compact, sturdy flashlight. Aluminum body. Bright light beam. One odd feature. It does NOT have a traditional on and off button. You have to twist the "head" of the flashlight relative to the handle to turn it on and off. This may actually be an improvement to the traditional button as that is what often fails on a typical flashlight. Time will tell.

I like it.
It’s a Maglight. I have many flashlights, but none that I’ve bought are as durable as Maglight. I’m not fond of the lack of on/off switch, but since switches are a main cause of failure in most flashlights perhaps the twist switch is more durable. I needed a C- cell for various reasons and I this one is what I wanted and needed. I would buy again.

EMP proof Incandescent light
Not as bright as my Streamlight LED flashlight; but no electronics means it would still function after a Solarflare, or EMP...!

Rock-solid as ever, but very dim compared to modern flashlights
There is nothing *wrong* with this flashlight, and it retains the classic Maglite indestructible build quality, but I really can't escape the fact that these incandescents are just not what they used to be. For nearly $20 it should be five times this bright; $15 LED flashlights are so much brighter it's not even a close contest. I just wish it had a brighter incandescent bulb at this price and it would still have a nice niche to fill.

RIP Maglite
I had so much confidence in Maglite products, that I immediately tossed all the packaging for this flashlight as soon as I opened it. When I initially tested it, it worked fine, but a bit later, the light became very faint and died. We assumed it was the batteries, or maybe we just got a bad bulb, because... Maglite. We tried a variety of brand new batteries and the spare bulb, and eventually it seemed to randomly start working again. We thought we'd fixed the problem. Then, when we needed to use the flashlight, it happened again. Of course, now it's past the return date, and I threw away all the packaging, anyway. There are so few brands these days that a person can trust. Maglite used to be one of them. Not any more, apparently.

always trusted
have had maglites for several years, drop them, they still work. love the ability to adjust the light beam. This 2 battery C-cell is a smaller flashlight, lighter weight, but still just as bright and Red is always a good color.
