REVISED Great for restoring appearance of kitchen wooden utensils and surfaces.
Revised Review: Revision Date: 01 May 2020 When I received this product I input a review without having had a chance to use it. Therefore I gave a provisional approval for the Product. I NOW GIVE THE Food Grade Mineral Oil for Cutting Boards, Countertops and Butcher Blocks - Food Safe and Made in the USA MADE AND MARKETED by THIRTEEN CHEFS AN Absolute and unequivocal approval. The product meets 100% of my Needs. This product is easy to apply, has no discernible scent and is completely absorbed into the wood. No sticky or oily residue. The knives and butcher blocks look wonderful and more importantly the moisturized items have had their useful lives extended. I will continue to use this product as it is perfect for my needs. Thank You Thirteen Chefs! Jay Parrish Review Date: Manufacturer: 26 Apt 2020. Thirteen Chefs Product: Food Grade Mineral Oil for Cutting Boards, Countertops and Butcher Blocks - Food Safe and Made in the USA Review: I have used Food Grade Mineral Oil for over 20 years. I have given the Thirteen Chef’s a “test run”, and have found it to be a top quality product and with a 12 fluid ounce bottle, I consider this product to be a good value. Food grade mineral oil is used to treat the handles of wood handled knives, wooden spoons, butcher blocks, butcher block counter tops, and wooden cutting boards. The mineral oil replaces the natural oils that the Wood contains when new. Through the washing process the wooden components mentioned above the oils are leached out of the wood, causing the original color to degrade and in the process, reduces the longevity of the wood. - [ ] The treatment process is simple. Wipe the oil on the wood to be treated, rub it in for about 30 seconds, set it aside on a hard “non porous” surface ( like a dinner plate) for between 12-24 hours, and your good to go. - [ ] The only exception to this would be for the treatment of utensils which have not ever been treated. In this case, several treatments may be required to bring the item being treated back to a pleasing appearance. - [ ] In the case of wooden spoons and other wooden cooking utensils, the oil having soaked into the items being treated, gives the item more flexibility and reduces the chance of breaking a utensil which has become brittle through the loss of its natural oils. - [ ] It is not advisable to use other Food Grade oils such as oil oil or vegetable cooking oils as they do not soak into the woods cellular structure as well and tend to leave a sticky residue on the surface and the stickiness increases over time.

Makes everything look great
This mineral oil worked perfectly for my new teak cutting board. Makes it easy to clean up the board with just a damp wash clothe. There is no color, smell, or overly tick oil. It is not sticky or to thin or too thick. It applied perfectly and so easy. I have used a lot of mineral oil in the past especially on stainless steel equipment such as a grinder, mixer, and laundry sink that is stainless steel. I rub off small spots of rust starting and then oil down the whole inside and outer area down about twice a year and it keeps it looking good and keeps it from rusting. Theis size of bottle will last me a good long time and this is a good mineral oil and a great value. The size of bottle and the amount is great because even at this size it looks like I didn't use any to do each side of my huge cutting board. My board is brand new and I wanted to seal it before I used it. Works perfect with no grit and you don't have to use much to cover even a large board.

Good mineral oil for wood chopping boards
I’ve used this to protect a new chopping board and I apply it about once a month. It soaks into the wood very evenly. I clean my chopping board with a soft bristle brush and no water. Applying this mineral oil makes cleanup very easy. Putting it on the board is also simple. Just squirt it on and rub it around with your hands. It doesn’t add any flavor or taste to whatever you’re chopping. This is a good value for a nice product that works well. We’ll buy again when the need arises.

Great First Step Before Conditioner
I used Thirteen Chefs Food Grade Mineral Oil as a pre-treatment on my new cutting board, and it worked exactly as I hoped. The oil is clear, virtually odorless, and spreads easily without feeling sticky. The wood soaked it up quickly and the grain immediately looked richer and more even. After letting it absorb, I followed with a butcher block conditioner and the board looks fantastic—well hydrated and protected. Simple to use, good value, and I feel confident using it on anything that touches food.

The Oil is fine, Amazon shipping (per usual) is terrible
Has anyone else noticed that Amazon's shipping has totally gone down the tubes over the past couple years? They are always late. Always late. As in, the delivery never, ever, arrives on the date stated when the purchase is made. This oil was packed loosly in a box and tossed around quite a bit. Enough too loosen the cap and pop the seal - making the oil leak out inside the box. Luckily, only about 20% of it got lost, so it's not worth a return. Anyways, the oil itself seems to work pretty well. I used it today on two Teakwood end-grain boards and the oil soaked in well and brought out the color of the wood nicely. I'll have to wait and see if it actually protects the boards, but it certainly looks like it's doing it's job. Would purchase again...but maybe not from Amazon unless I'm looking for a well-lubed cardboard box.

Essential Maintenance for Food-Grade Wood
I bought this to refresh my kitchen woodware, including my spoons, rolling pin, and knife block. It’s easy to apply and seems to do a perfectly fine job of conditioning the wood. It soaked in well and didn't leave any greasy residue behind. It’s a solid, food-safe option for basic maintenance.

Amish Spoon Butter
As others noted it leaked a bit during shipping. I use the mineral oil in a 4:1 by weight ratio with bees wax pellets melting the pellets in water bath warmed oil. This make a very good cutting board, butcher block counter top, and wooden kitchen utensil sealant and preservative. Applied by rubbing into the wood surface, give time to absorb then buff to a hard surface. Help to warm the mixture a bit first. I have a cutting board that was made by my dad it has been treated in this manner and has lasted over 15 years. I do sand it when the surface show too much wear. Try it you will not be disappointed.

The upgrade your cutting board needs!
This stuff works so well! I didn't realize how beautiful all my cutting boards could look with just a little oil. its a little messy to put on but soaks in and leaves a beautiful grain finish. And food grade makes me feel safe to eat on it as well.
