Fun game, puzzles a little on the easy side for an adult
Lately, to save money in these tough times, I've been buying older, and cheaper, PC games. My first love is adventure games, but I also enjoy hidden object and pure puzzle games. The Book of Legends game, by Activision, is a nice little game, and I recommend it to the casual gaming adult (like me) or kids. I would think a 10-12 year old would find it the right balance of difficulty vs frustration. This is a combination hidden object and puzzle game. It is mainly hidden object, with little puzzles thrown in here among the hidden object play. What I particularly liked about it is that the names of the hidden objects are not dumbed down. The Book of Legend quest takes you to different world-wide historical sites, and the hidden objects are (mostly) pertinent to that site. So, if you're in an ancient Egyptian temple, you are looking mainly for things that are found in a temple, and the true names of the objects are used. Sometimes, I didn't know what the object was (so I was learning!), but the game helps by giving you a shadow outline of what you're looking for. In one museum, for example, I was looking for a "bug exemplar". I'm still not quite sure what that means in archeological terms (try googling "bug exemplar" and see if you do better than me), but I was able to find the hidden bug exemplar nevertheless. This is a nice game for the money, especially as it has 90 levels to work through. It lasted me quite a while of casual gaming. Recommended!Happy Reader

An adventure game like every other
I am a point-and-click adventure fanatic, so keep this in mind when reading my review. I found BoL at a retail outlet clearance rack and read the box carefully before making my purchase, figuring $10 wasn't a total loss even if the game turned out to be bad.Well, guess what. It's a hidden object game. Despite the "6 adventurous modes of game play" and getting to "solve a riddle at each new location"--all it is is a hidden object game. Okay, maybe this changes after the first four levels, but that was as far as I could stand playing when it turned out that the characters were the ones solving the riddles, not me. There are a few smaller changes than make it not quite a pure hidden object game, such as operating the boat, but for the most part the only challenge is actually finding the objects in question, especially since the game constantly prompts what to do next. The graphics are okay. I'm not fond of the "How to Draw Anime" style for the characters in many of these budget titles, but this is purely preferential. It might be a good game for hidden object fans, but I am not one of them.

Hidden Object - NOT Adventure!
I just want to make it very clear that this is not an adventure game, despite what the description claims. It is purely 100% a "hidden" objects game. I have no problem with those types of games, so long as they state that's what they are. I also would like to add that the voice acting is annoying at best as one character is always babbling about nonsense and the other is insulting and rude.I would say this game is more geared towards the pre-teen ages (9-12) and is a bit easy for the adult crowd. However, if you enjoy hidden object games and want something simple to just pass an hour of your day, this would be a decent buy.

overall dissapointing
the Book of Legends game is so-so but the voice-overs are ANNOYING and non-stop. had to leave the game on mute and spent way too much time clicking through incessant and meaningless dialogue.
