Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, 125th Anniversary Edition: The only authoritative text based on the complete, original manuscript (Mark Twain Library) (Volume 9)

A wealth of scholarly material, in addition to Twain's story.
As a 5th-grader, my granddaughter was assigned Tom Sawyer, which she greatly enjoyed reading. When I told her that Twain wrote a sequel about Huck Finn, she immediately asked me for a copy. Now, she's reading one of America's greatest novels just for fun, in this summer before 6th grade. And she's fully aware that she will almost certainly be assigned to read it again in 10th or 11th grade. The maps and other reference materials in this particular edition will undoubtedly support her scholarly work and her deeper understanding in years to come. As a black man, I stand ready (as does my son, her father) to give her deep context for understanding the character of Jim, and the repeated use of the infamous "n-word".

An Excellent Presentation
This version of "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," by Mark Twain, is excellent in every way. The quality of the materials used is first-rate, from the cover to the pages. Illustrations from the first edition proliferate the pages throughout the novel, maps of the Mississippi River are included to provide a sense of the main character's journey, and there is an abundance of notes and letters by the author included. Not only does this version deserve its five-star rating, for what the reader is getting it is a very moderately priced novel.

The Whole Story of Huck Finn
This book contains not only the original Huck Finn story but the history behind the publication including the controversy surrounding its publication. Many places banned this book because the story was deemed too political. The book was a gift for my nephew and he absolutely loved the whole book

Got around to reading Huckleberry Finn for the first time, at over 60 years old
Loved this book, especially how Huck grew to love Tom as a person, an achievement in those awful pre-Civil war times and Tom developed warm feelings towards Huck ( don't think Tom could ever completely keep his guard down, given the era) I had not understood what a radical book Huckleberry Finn was in its time. I gained so much from the reading even though some words/attitudes presented in the narrative still remain cringe-worthy. Also got pleasure from Sam Clemens's sharp, sly humor.I remain hopeful for the day where the sufferings of Black Americans will be relegated to the trash bin of history.
