The Mad Men Persuasion Guide to Sell Anything!
The media could not be loaded. Josh Weltman was an advertising creative director for more than 25 years, Josh was also a part of Mad Men since the show's first season. He helped ensure that Mad Men accurately depicted the real world of advertising. And as a former Madison Avenue ad man, I can tell you that the scenarios presented in the show were spot on. He also created most of the original ads seen on the show. However, this book is NOT about how to do ads for the Don Draper, "advertising is king" era. It's a book about persuasion. And it's extremely well written. It explains what motivates people to take action (spoiler alert: it's not advertising). One of my favorite lines in the book was "People are driven to act by their own impulses far more often than by outside forces."The book also covers "the four elements of selling," how to present your ideas, viral marketing, why success in online marketing requires very different types of communication from offline marketing, and lots more.I really enjoyed the book and I think you will too. And, to listen to an interview with Josh Weltman about "Seducing Strangers," visit MarketingBookPodcast.com

A Unique Insightful Look at Advertising and How You Can Get People To Take Action
In Seducing Strangers Josh shares the insights he gained during an unusual experience of reflecting on his own industry in order to capture the essence of the business and the people in it honestly and authentically for public consumption in a TV Show. These insights were a result of what appears to be deep introspection and reflection and provide a great deal of value for anyone who is trying to get someone to take action. The world has changed and now with social media and the ease of getting a message out into many mediums, more and more of the advertising messages we receive are written by people with no advertising background. This book is a valuable tool for anyone who is writing ad copy or creating ad campaigns, and is a great read for anyone who would like some insight into why people take action and how advertising works.

Seduced without the prerequisite drink first.
Josh Weltman made me fall in love with advertising all over again. In a way, the book is his own love letter to the craft, but, neatly tucked away between the lines are wonderful insights that anyone wanting to better understand advertising or create engaging media should abscond with. A quick read and worth every penny.

This book is easy to read
What separates this book about advertising from others of its kind is that it's not so much of a book preaching about the business as it is a conversation. This book is easy to read, digestible and resonant with real-world examples and war stories. Plus, as an added bonus, it gives good context to some of the inner workings of the characters and specific scenes from Mad Men.I'd totally recommend this to people who are already in the business, those wanting to get into the business, folks who are just insanely curious about advertising, or, for the diehard fans of the show who aren't in the business. For the latter group, you can practically go back and revisit the show and watch it in a whole new light. Well done, Mr. Weltman.

Short and to the Point
This book is intended for an audience whose main interest in advertising comes from watching the TV show "Mad Men" and has had very little exposure to marketing theory. It's a very slim volume regarding Josh Weltman's practical philosophy on advertising and marketing, with a particular emphasis on the lifecycle of ad campaigns. It's a fast, fun read, and if you take the time to think about the concepts Weltman discusses you will likely look at ad campaigns in a much different way than you did before. And it was undeniably smart of Weltman (a consultant on the "Mad Men" series) to get this book on the market while the TV show was still hot.It may be little more than a primer, but it's an exceptionally readable primer. It won't help you to create your own DIY marketing scheme from scratch, but it will help orient you to make better use of more detailed books. And for that, it's worth your time.

Super Good Read! Loved it!
What a great read! The author's marketing savvy can be seen in not only the content of this well written book, but the design as well! The book flows effortlessly and my only disappointment was that it wasn't a longer read. I enjoyed it enough to purchase another copy for my niece who will be heading off to college in the Fall. Buy it! You will not be disappointed!
