Running in cold weather isn't always fun. Runners have learned that wearing several layers of clothing offers the best protection. But getting dressed in layers of warm clothing inside a warm house often causes one to perspire. Starting a cold weather run with damp clothing means that the runner will get cold – quickly. In cold or freezing temperatures, moisture is the skin's worst enemy. Moisture pulls heat away from the skin 23 times faster than air and can reduce skin temperature so rapidly that wet feet feel painfully cold. Wet skin makes the feet much more susceptible not only to frostbite, but also to blisters. The Drymax Cold Weather Running Socks have a special Dual Layer Moisture Removal System. This system instantly moves moisture from the skin, through the inner Drymax layer to the outer absorbent layer, keeping feet dry. Staying dry is critical to remaining warm and comfortable in cold weather.

nice sock
The sock is nice and thick with cushioning. It fits like a glove- a tighter fit which I prefer. The elastic around the lower calf is tight, so beware if that is something you would not like. There is an elastic "support" across the arch of the foot which fits tighter. I have an extremely high arch and like this fit. I do not know how this would feel for someone with a flat arch. Be aware that there is that tight elastic feel across the arch of the foot. The socks do keep my foot much drier than my 100% cotton socks for sure. The fabric appears to be somewhat different at the toes and my toes get ever so slightly moist by the end of the day. I wear these socks for my 6 am walk in very cold weather- wind chill in the teens- and my feet stay warm. I would recommend this sock if you are not put off by a tight sock on your foot and around your calf. If you have thicker or heavier calves or feet, the tight fit may be an issue. If you have circulatory issues and/or edema, I can say with almost certainty that these socks will not work for you due to the tight elastic at the calf and arch of foot. Also, if your shoes already fit snug, wearing these socks would probably make your shoes fit too tight. These socks work great in my running shoes which I order 1/2 size larger. On the other hand, they do not work at all with my dress shoes which I wear to work.

Winter is coming
I've had these socks for about a year now and put countless cold and often wet miles on them and they have held up like champs.I consulted the sizing chart before I ordered and they fit snuggly in the best way, offering the same type of support as the rest of my compression gear. The material is on the thicker side (predictable since they're designed for colder weather) so keep that in mind if you run in a minimalist shoe like I do. It's not a problem for me, but I do notice that I don't feel the ground quite as well and I have to lace up a little looser when wearing these. As far as insulation these are incredible. Much like the warning on all the UA Coldgear products I do not wear these unless the temperature dips below forty degrees, but when it does these socks keep my feet nice and cozy. I live in TN, so I can't comment on sub-zero performance, however I can say that I have run in these on days that we got into the low teens and they did their job. The fabric wicks well and an anti-odor element is always a welcome addition to the specs of any gear that will see quite a bit of sweat. I have not had the problems other reviewers have with the elastic getting weak, in fact the only wear on mine is on the heel. Washing is simple if you're used to moisture wicking synthetics; cold water and hang dry. I generate enough laundry of this type that it usually all ends up going in the same load then draped over every possible object in my bathroom, bedroom, and office. All in all a great choice if you're trying to stay on the streets or trails even in the dead of winter.

Drymax Socks Cold Weather Running Crew Sock
I gave it a four star only because I haven't been able to run in the extreme cold since I got these sock (30 degrees is not very cold). But I must admit, they do feel as if they will keep my feet warmer. The socks did arrive on time, when promised and they look exactly as advertised (really do not look bad at all).I have used them on my morning runs and the cushioning to me is unbelieveable. I usually run in ordinary cotton socks but I needed something for colder weather. So as a second benefit, the cushioning in these socks compared to the cotton socks is very noticeable and a very pleasant experience.I hope to use these sock all winter long and I am sure I will be getting cold weather. My only concern is that my sneakers are mesh on top, so how much warmth they will provide is still yet to be determined. But if they prevent my feet from sweating through their wicking ability, than I guess they will be a lot better that what I have been using and a lot warmer, too.

Works as described.
I use these when I run in sub 30 degree weather. I have used these down into the single digits, not including windchill. They are thick, and you will notice they are thick. They do a good job at blocking the wind on the top of the foot, and they are ok at keeping the toes warm. Unfortunately there is only so much you can do to keep your feet warm in the cold with just running shoes and socks.Obviously the warmth you will get from the various temps is based off the time you are running, water/snow, and your own ability to handle lower temperatures. They are definitely warmer than my normal running socks. The socks have about 3 layers of material. All in all, if you run in the cold, get a pair.

Worked great in cold weather; but runs a bit large
I wear a size 13 wide shoe, and according to the size chart, I ordered accordingly, they are a full size big and I could have gone with a large instead of an XL. Outside of that though, I still wore them, they were perfectly comfortable in my running shoes and I ran an event over the weekend where the weather was in the 30's and at no point in time did I even think that my feet were cold or getting cold. I was very impressed with the performance of these, from both the standing performance as well as the in race performance. I will order more of this brand, just in a smaller size.

Keeps me warm and dry!
Perfect and keeps my foot warm and dry during runs. Did about 2 runs in them and about 5 miles each in about 25 degree weather and my feet stayed warm. My feet and hands usually get really hot and I don't like wearing thick socks during a run because I blister easily but I put body glide under my feet on every run and this thick socks worked great and I didn't get a blister. My feet didn't really get cold till the temperature hit about 33 degrees and I couldn't stand to run in my regular running socks. I recommend this socks to cold weathered runners! Need to buy me more pairs!

Quite tight and very think, much thicker than standard sports socks. Keep this in mind as some footwear may not fit with these on.
