Simple Flavor Women's Vintage Velvet Midi Dress 3/4 Sleeve Flare Swing Pleated A-Line Party Dress

I love this dress. I wasn't sure when I ordered if I would like it or if it would fit. I wore it to a Christmas party and got so many compliments. It is very elegant and tasteful.

This is quite high-waisted - but not in a empire waist sort of way. It's built like it's intended for a short person. It's pretty, well-made and floaty, swingy, drapey. The crushed velvet is quite elegant in the right circumstance. Works great for our size 14 high-waisted 5'5" daughter.

For clothing, the important points of evaluation are accuracy in sizing, quality of materials, the feel of the fabric on your skin, wash-ability, closet-space and fold-ability. As such, for dresses, these are the points I evaluate. I can't evaluate style, as we all have different tastes, but the objective points can be easily reported in review, to aid you in your search for that special something that will work for you and make you feel beautiful. Accuracy In Sizing: This dress is sized nearly accurately, at least as to the one I received. The measurements were off slightly, as they appear to have been accounting for the ability of the fabric to stretch. This one is a little smaller than listed, but only a little, and, because it stretches, there is a little wiggle room on sizing. It fits her well enough, but keep that in mind. Quality Of Materials: The velvet on this dress is more the thinner-medium, a slightly lighter-medium. It hugs the frame and is light enough to not cling in the skirt. The pleats are intact, even after being stored in the warehouse for however long, so it appears to be a perma-pleat garment. The hem is stitched, not raw, which is a plus. The belt is nonsensical, as it is nearly impossible to get it to sit right, but it is well made and works nicely with jeans, so I treat that like a bonus. Feel Of Fabric: The fabric is soft, not ultra-soft, but quite soft. It wears well and is comfortable. Wash-ability: The fabric is washable and can be washed easily. It should be washed inside-out, as should all garments. Because it is a permanent-pleat fabric, please wash this one by hand and in cold water. Those pleats will come out with heat exposure or too much agitation. Closet-Space: This one takes up a lot of hanging-space, as it is fluffy in the skirt, although not as much as a thick dress with two layers. It can be compressed but you risk damaging those nice pleats, so I recommend giving this one a little room to breathe. Folding: This dress should not be folded, as it will add creases across the pleats and will put creases in the velvet material. Good luck finding the dress that will make you look and feel amazing.

The sizing was way off. I ordered a medium and it was way too tight. I am 5’5.5” tall and weigh 135 pounds. Plus, the belt was missing and the zipper was down as if somebody else had already tried it on and didn’t return the belt. I returned the dress, but it sure was gorgeous. Not for women with breast. I wear- S/ M. Ordered this and I look like 12 year old. Nothing like a picture. Going back, or I will see if my niece will like it.

I'm sure that making these out of the natural fabrics The originals would have been made out of would have made for a much more comfortable and classic dress, but also would be more costly. So the compromise isn't bad for something like this that's worn for special events or parties. The Velvet effect is way cool. Do check the description for the sizing as their sizing is a little differently for most brands.

Fit was slightly snug on the arms but beautiful dress! And comfy. Great for the price too!
