Streetwise Security Products Streetwise Locking Book Safe with Key

When placed around other like books, this safe actually looks legit. For the low price, I'm pretty impressed. I was only looking for something to safely store a few sets of keys, and this fits the bill perfectly. It could likely hold up to a small pistol, but appears designed more for cash, credit cards, jewelry, vehicle keys and the like. I purchased this item based off of Amazon reviews, so wanted to add yet another positive one myself.

I bought this after my apartment was robbed. Since then I've been taking measures to make sure my place is as secure as possible. Along with physically locking my computer and external hardrive to my desk, I needed something to store priceless things to me, like my Jewelry and portable external hard drive (where I have my design work, home videos and photos stored).I wanted a discrete safe, because unless the safe is bolted to the ground (in plain view or closet), they WILL be tempted to take it regardless of not having the keys. I thought this would be a great option for me because I have a huge bookshelf with many books it can blend in with.PROS:- The title is generic and something everyone would own. I read reviews of other products similar to this one but with a different title. Their main complaint was the title was so "out there" that guests actually wanted to read it sometimes (I think one was called "Food for Millionaires").- There is plenty of room for things like Jewelry, Money, keys, even a small firearm.- The spine and outside construction looks like a real book. It even has some imperfections that show when you own a regular leather-bound book.- The actual safe is made of real metal and very durable. The lock as well.CONS:- There is really only one (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5)- The sides don't look exactly like book pages. The sides are faux pages made of plastic around the safe. But I guess there is no real way to get around that unless you cut through a real book. I placed my book safe on the highest shelf so even a tall burglar couldn't see the top and become suspicious. I also placed it between books and not by itself. You can also sandwich it between two taller books so they will create a shadow on the safe, making the sides less obvious.I currently have my portable external hard drive, my computer lock keys, my SS card and birth certificate in the safe. When I traveled, I always brought my good jewelry with me just in case someone broke in while I was gone (regardless whether or not I was going to wear it). Now I will be putting them in this safe, knowing they're hidden away.I would recommend this product. I might even get one as a gift for someone. The only thing that could make this product even better is if it was fire proof!

The glue that holds the book to the lock box came unglued day one. We have yet to glue it back on but it works fine and does the job I suppose. We stopped using it for the most part just because it kind of sticks out that its fake; and for what we wanted the lock box didn't seem secure enough.

I purchased one of these in blue last year, and purchased this one in brown for a gift for my brother. Mine was glued better than this one...the cover had wrinkles. From a distance, in a book shelf with other books, it is believable as a thick dictionary. As soon as you pick it up, or look it over, you can clearly tell something's not right. The pages are clearly plastic, but it still works! I love the lock/key feature.I would recommend this safe if its not going to be out in the open. But for blending in on a bookshelf, its just perfect.

This book safe does a great job. I keep it in my drawer underneath some other books. It doesn't look suspicious sitting on a bookshelf or in a drawer, but if someone picked it up then they would know that it is fake; but at least it is locked. I use it to keep my condoms in so my parents do not find out that we have sex.It works great as a place to hide things as long as they do not pick it up. The pages do not look real either, but for the price, it serves its purpose well. If my parents find the book, at least it is locked and i can just say that it is where i lock my money away. But if a burglar finds it, then you are out of luck.

The shipping was quick and packaging was excellent. I ordered two of them and they looked fine, exactly what I wanted and expected, but both were defective. The metal safe was not attached to the book binding. Apparently, the glue had dried up, or an improper glue was used. I thought I might just keep them, maybe glue them myself, but decided instead to return them. I might buy them again if something happens to make me believe they solved the defect.

I like that it fits in well with other books. You can fit many valuable things like cash, coins, jewelry, and etc. It provides two keys to access it so you may want to hide the other key somewhere else. It is worth it to have something small to hide from thieves.

I was intrigued when I became aware of small safes disguised as books, so I ordered this one. I have quite a collection of books from many years on my bookshelves, and it hides quite well in plain sight. I like it. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is that it is not quite as strong as I think it could be. I could defeat it in just a few minutes with tools from my roll away tool box. On the other hand, because it disguises so well, that event will probably never happen. The only "burglars" that might mess with it are probably going to be my as-yet unborn grandchildren. :-) Recommended.

Does what it claims. It is big enough to fit basics that may need to be stored away in a locker. And you'll never be able to distinguish it from other books in your shelf. :D
