Q: Is latch in center is only closure?

No. There is a zipper that closes it. The latch in the middle closes over the zipper. I bought my daughter this case and she loves it.

Q: what is green fabric, rayon velvet?

It’s velvet, but from the feel I don’t think it is rayon. I couldn’t find anything that said what the fiber content is. It’s a really nice case and fits the violin perfectly.

Q: I can't get the latch to work. I must be doing something wrong. Can someone help?

To open just push from top to bottom on the round button. To close just push the latch into the slot.
